Many larger companies discriminate against older workers due to insurance costs. Keeping the average age down gets them a favorable deal. A lot of older workers end up in the gig economy struggling to make ends meet.

Unemployment is only for a 6 mth period , only pays 66% of what you made & that time goes quickly. Unemployment usually offered free re-training opportunities, look into them. Because as a nurse I could always find work & the field interested me.

I went to xray school at 47. I now travel making 6 figures. Saw the layoffs of 2024 coming since 2017. To be honest your screwed. Go to trade school plumbing, electrician or HVAC. Classes are full of students in their 60's. You're relax thinking is 100% wrong.
