Making Some 7 /16" Walnut Tongue And Groove Paneling On The Router Table

Making some thin tongue and groove paneling from backyard walnut. Also a update on the natural edge top and trying to catch a little more sawdust from my table saw.

Thanks. Horseheads is a little less then an hour southwest of us. Cancer is a terrible disease but my mom survived 15 years after being diagnosed with stage 4 that had spread to her liver. Doctors gave her 6 months and she sure surprised them. Never give up hope. Thanks for watching.

The natural edge top looks fantastic. You do such cool projects, I can't wait to see the finished job. I'll bet there was some "colorful language" when the zipper blew? LOL. Thanks. I just shut off the camera went back turned the sander on and poof the whole zipper blew apart. I guess there was to much dust in the bag that clogged the filter material and built up excess pressure. It was an unexpected surprise that made a mess. The cabinet will be like a pie safe with a drawer and pullout shelves for guest linens and towels that keeps being delayed by other projects. Thanks for watching.

I have been using the 1HP shaper I got from Harbor Freight several years ago as a router table and it has always worked great. And its much quieter then a router.

I know you aren't crazy about your router table on your saw but I love mine. After using many variations of router tables over the years and now using a cast iron top I will never settle for less than cast iron if I ever need to change. Huge difference in feel when routing and a better finish. If you want something different a shaper would be a great addition. The collecting of cutters is a bit out of my budget or I would have one.

I see grizzly now offers a cast iron stand alone table and lift that looks nice. My old harbor freight table has a bow from sagging that makes it hard to get a consistent cut so it is time to start looking for a flatter one. Thanks for watching.

You may want to consider a small shaper instead of a new router table . Maybe able to find a good used one . They are perfect for that type of work . Still a bit tricky to adjust but after you have a test piece made for reference it is quick to set up . I love that walnut , wish we had it here . Great work

Shaper cutters are very expensive for what I do plus I am running out of room for equipment. Walnut grows like a weed around here so that and ash killed by the EAB are the primary woods that I have to work with. Thanks for watching.

Shapers are very expensive to get cutter heads for as I have a pretty nice one that hardly ever gets used anymore since i can buy router bits in the same profile for 1/10th the cost

I would suggest looking into the Triton 3 1/2 hp router. It's basically a router and lift for less than the price of a good lift. A man with your skills could mount it to a plate for the table you already have. I bought the kreg plate because I had the kreg table, couldn't be happier.

I have mixed feelings about the Triton router. My other Bosch base has the same feature and it doesn't really impress me. The table I have has sagged in the middle that makes it hard to get a good cut with bits like this on longer stock so that is why I am thinking about replacing it. I understand the keg lift is just a rebranded lift from another vendor. I definitely want to go with cast iron this time. Thanks for watching.

I have seen that table. I am on their email list. I think their top is made by general international and probably would be a goodchoice. Years ago before the internet I purchased a lot from Woodworkers Supply. Prepare for long days if you start a channel. Making, editing, and uploading videos takes many hours but it is a fun hobby. I would think the money you saved by not having to buy the walnut, will go a long way to paying for lots more equipment., Down here in Texas, good hardwood is super pricey! Great job, I built a home made router lift and table. Really makes bit changing and adjustment so much easier.

People say money doesn't grow on trees but with a small sawmill it really does. I thought about building one but really like the idea of a nice flat cast iron table top that will stay flat over time and can use a standard miter gauge. Thanks. I get them from MLCS and Amana now. MLCS bits are chaepc and good for a couple hundred feet before dulling and Amana bits are good for my CNC and longest lasting in a table. Toold today is a great place to buy Amana bits. Thanks for watching.

Now if I could figure out how to tongue and grove the ends of the boards to look just like that I’d go buy a bunch of tongue and grove pine from my uncles sawmill and get started on my ceiling. . I don’t like the look of the 45 Butt joints on most people’s ceilings after a couple years.

My last house I used t & g on all the ceilings. Used 2 routers wit guide bits for the end. One with a 45 deg chamfer and one set to cut a 1/4 x 3/8 slot. I cut hundreds of 3/4 x 1/4 x 5 1/2 splines that were inserted when installing. Easy and undetectable way to join ends. Thanks for watching

The only time I tried cutting t&g for flooring I used the 1 inch t&g knives that came with my old Foley belsaw planer that worked good. Having powered feed made it go fast but it did tear up the rubber feed rollers doing the second side. If you have a lot to do I would spend a little more to get a high quality carbide bit and look for a power feeder. It also needs some back cuts to stay flat. Good luck. Thanks for watching.

I am looking at that one but have seen several comments about theirs being bowed corner to corner. Infinity has the one with a Triton router that looks nice buy I really would like something that has less play then the Triton and Bosch setups. MLCS has one but they won't give a flatness spec, they say it is dead flat which means you are stuck with whatever it is. Grizzly just started making one also that I would like to see reviews of. Hopefully some will chime in with tops they like. The reviews are so mixed it is hard to tell which tops are the flattest and have proper grinding of the miter gauge slot. MDF tops sag over time so I really want cast iron. The t&g bits and door coping bits really need a good lift to set up for accurate cuts. I have a bunch of stuff that I don't use anymore to sell that should pay for a decent one. Thanks for watching.

I see that one and it looks nice but don't know if the if I like the fence. Jet has a real nice one also with a 4 post lift but it's pricey. I didn't realize there are several different size router plates used by different tables till now and some lifts need special adapters for different size routers. Thanks for watching

Any dust is bad for your lungs but there are many that have allergic reactions to walnut dust. I am one. Another thing is never mix it in for horse bedding. It can actually make horses lame when it contacts their feet. Also never plant a garden near a walnut tree. The roots emit substance that will kill certain garden plants.
