Be careful when attendant comes out. Make sure they reset the pump, some won’t and then you get a fill up plus you get charged for the person that filled up before you. Mostly this happens in mainland Mexico but it can happen in Baja. Great video.!

All I know about Baja street food-Fish Tacos!!! If you order tortillas they will automatically give you flour so be sure to ask for “maiz” if you want corn. The beef is much chewier than the American beef because it is very lean. The gas station toilets are famously hideous. My favorite tourist spot was an art colony on the Pacific side west of La Paz.

I grew up going to Ensenada 2-3 times annually 1950s-1973. Was a great time for a kid. Estero Beach Resort and the next door a bit north, El Faro campground. Ate at the long gone Ensenada Cafe which was directly across the street from the famous Husson's Cantina bar. So fun. Mom used to watch the floor show at the Bahia Hotel from the big picture window in front on the street for free. Folkloric dancers and great music. Oh the fun times. Only drawback to the city is the odor of the harbor sea creatures and some sanitary issues in the hinterlands. Last visit was a cruise from Los Angeles that stopped in the port and that was about 20 years back. Safe travels and yes, plenty of road blocks on the way on highways.

I think the reason you don't want to drive at night is because of the "topes". Giant speed bumps that go all the way across the road. How to ruin your suspension in one fell swoop!! Can't see them until you are on top of them, at night. I went as far as Rosarito Beach once, to buy some medicine over the counter that was horribly expensive in the U.S. when i had lyme disease.

Not sure how, but I have been following Itchy Boots, and when she made it to Alaska on her motorcycle then I discovered Eva Zu Beck, Next Meridian, G'Day Jambo, and you. Didn't you have to rush back to the airport because Eva forgot her driving license? I heard that you can block a dog that jumps up with your knee (not to strike, just block) unless your balance is not good. You can also gently step on their hind toes (not stomp), they won't like it and the jumping will get trained out of them with the toe stepping.
