You leaving to meet Ben and Chesca when you did, being near the van to spot the smoke, and Ben being an electrical wizard who could make it all safe again.. lots of coincidences there! 🥰

So many people talk about Karma in a negative way (e.g. "Karma's a b***h"). However, this incident proved that Karma indeed does deliver what's coming to you - in the most positive way possible. You two put so much good, light and love out into the world, and it was paid back to you in the most spectacular fashion. So glad you are safe and that Trudy lives to explore so much more!

My mum set our Esterel folding caravan on fire. She left a plastic washing up bowl on the gas ring, it was still on low flame but you couldn't tell because of the sun. Luckily a french fire man was on the campsite holidaying, he levered the window open and emptied an extinguisher in and put it out. It was mostly smoke damage and a melted roller blind and sky light. We had only just bought the caravan in Calais a few days before.

What a great quote at the intro. There is only the present!!! My late wife was a Psychologist and I'm a BSc Physicist. We came to the conclusion over many bottles of red wine and our old 70s vinyl collections.... Defo something about the idea that we create a new rolling present from our collective consciousness. Whatever, it's a good excuse for philosophy when drinking fine wine. - I must admit thought, I am completely OCC about fuses everywhere in my wiring!!!

I love you guys and am so thankful you are ok after the fire scare! I’ve almost died in 2 fires. One in 1994 and one in 2020. I definitely believe in my guardian angels, there is more that I need to accomplish in this lifetime. I believe your guardian angels were there for you also and you have many more adventures ahead of you! On a side note, I think you guys would get along great with my parents! They are retired and do a lot of traveling in their van as well. I showed them your KZbin channel and they love it! Safe travels ❤

Glad your van is going to be fine as Trudy is the best! A fire is something awful and glad it was so small and you could put it out well. That is a good reason to have and know how to use, a good quality fire extinguisher (and keep it up to date). Safe travels! Safe operation of the fire extinguisher is something all travelers in a van or trailer should know and be able to do. Read the directions ahead and mime doing the procedure for a practice when there is no fire.

This has got me looking on Amazon for a 2nd fire extinguisher for my caravan, we do have one but it’s a great big thing in a cupboard, so going to get a second smaller one and mount it where it’s straight to hand. Glad you and Trudi are safe. Take care.

You guys are extremely lucky that it wasn't worse, but seeing you had mouse/mice problems before in the past, I'd check out all your electrical wiring throughout the van, just incase they chewed through any other wiring. These exposed wires could have been a result of your previous travelling companion, mighty mouse. Hope you guys stay safe and never encounter anymore scares like this again.

OH wow so glad Ben spotted the fire and your damage was very minimal. That is my fear that a fire could start in my RV. So I unplug all my devices when I leave the RV or go to sleep. I also have a home base so now I unplug everything before I head out(except the stove and refrigerator). And your right the safety release on the Fire Extinguisher is hard to get off so I purchased a couple of Fire retardant Spray cans and 1 Fire retardant Ball…. Safe Travels 😊

Hi Rob - yep it was fused ... the fuse blew ... but the plastic must have been so hot it caught fire ?! Thank goodness we had the fire extinguisher next to the door

I'm glad you guys caught that in time, even a few more minutes with a tiny fire could have been terrible. These campervans get demolished in fires. Stay safe out there. I do recommend taking it to a shop and having them check the internals near the fire just in case you have internal damage you cannot see. Something could be damaged, causing an even worse problem in the future.

Dang! I had an incident with those USB ports too, just last week. I got it from China, one of those marine 4 set, 12v, USB, volt monitor and switch. You guys were lucky!
