Hi sir, I am a repeat customer of tata. Back in 2017 my tiago xz diesel suddenly failed to start at a traffic signal. It's 8.30pm and the car broke down near Kolkata Airport 2nd gate entry. Me and my parents were travelling. I had gold AMC and extended warranty at the time as it was my first tata car. So I called the RSA and long story short my car got towed at 4.30am in the morning by TVS. Pathetic experience that too in peak December winter all of us were stranded. They were not courteous to even offer a cab. We had to some how manage that from the airport. However, story changes when next morning, I get a call stating my fuel pump failed and since the part is not available we've procured it from a new car. The car is ready for you, or do you want us to drop it at your home(my home was 3 kms away). So the entire night I was upset, owning multiple brands in parallel like hyundai,fiat and maruti, this scenario never happened. And I was stationary just at the entrance of the airport and TVS was just awful. I triggered mails to seek clarity on the delay, but no response. Cut to 2022, I was looking for a Suv car and needed it on a timeline. Since I already had a feature loaded hyundai verna 1.6 sx, creta was out, the only cars appealed to me were nissan kicks and safari diesel based on driving pleasure. Because my ownership with tiago was totally smooth after that incident and safety was in priority, soon I got the safari xz plus and my dark fate struck again. I was greeted by a car which was defective and broke on the delivery day. Then after getting it back after 2 days, broke again. My car spent the first 70 days of ownership at a workshop. But, would like to point that I got a donor nexon from the dealer. Tata should really improve upon their service especially to the premium segment customers. I don't know how other brand's RSA does in terms of turn around time but TVS is pathetic and even so as you rightly mentioned a huge void in between tata and tvs coordination. Same story for me Romit but my tigor 2017 xz model never broke down once . And yes the service experience at elite tata motors barasaat kolkata should be improved- they always find one or other things to repair whenever i visit. Minimum they will charge 4-5k and once even 13k with a regular service. My parents currently using the car while i was outside the country. They didnt have the knowledge- th I waited for nissan kicks xv pre for 3months and was told the car production was stopped. Now after seeing all the videos and detailed travel experiences by safari traveller sir i bought safari xt+ so far so good on first 1000 kms although engine checklight once beeped for over 30mins and went off after restarting. Never reappeared again😌. The drive quality is amazing . And the sheer menacing tank like look .in love with the machine. I also bought 1year extended warranty not sure if i should extend it to two more years.

For a car that's currently manufactured and sold in decent numbers at Pune plant, getting the parts to Mumbai in a month's time is atrocious. Also, statistically speaking, you can say for only 1 out 400 users there was such a major breakdown. That's barely 3 sigmas of standard deviation. Calling it a rare event is outrageous as automotive systems are often designed for 4.2 sigmas and beyond (1 in a lac occurence). I rejected Safari XZA+ Dark Edition at PDI due to poor fit and finish throughout the car. Somehow I felt the car had escaped quality control at the Tata plant. Coming back to your data of spending 40-odd days in service center, and other online forums discussing niggles with Safari, here's my take on it: This tells me that people looking at Safari as their primary/only car should be ready for lot of wastage of time, and the people who can afford Safari as 2nd/3rd vehicle, would most likely not have mindset to want to face such issues. Half baked product plus incompetent service teams is a lethal combo.

Firstly, I said 1 out of 400 as per my knowledge. In reality do you know it is not 1 out of 4000? Sigmas aside, common sense and pure logic says that probability of this incident can't be a reason for anyone's decision to not go for this car, even if in 'worst' case if 1 out of 400 units has this problem (which is most likely not the case), let's assume for your argument. Fit and finish, yes, Tata needs to improve. Service and maintenance absolutely Tata needs to improve. Valid enough reason to not buy for those looking for no hassles at all experience I rejected other cars because they don't look as good as Safari in my eyes, and don't drive as well on highways and the value for money I got at 25.5L back in Feb 2021. What is atrocious is to make a decision based on a freak incident.

@@TheSafariTraveller If you correctly want to analyze the data, look at the number of Harrier and Safari breakdowns after 25000-30000 km on their ODO. I don't expect all 400 of your group members to have driven that much, but you can essily find Harriers with that much mileage easily and use that data since the powertrains are shared between the two. Speaking of Harrier, steering pull to the side has been noted since 1st lot. How long has it been since then? Why Tata can't fix such a simple problem before launching another vehicle with the same parts? If this is their quality control then what guarantees anyone that there aren't similar hidden 'lemons' in subsystems of Safari/Harrier that Tata doesn't bother to fix? In my opinion, reliability is as important as crash safety. Think of what all can go wrong when a car breaks down, for no obvious reason, in middle of a highway, with no village/town in sight. Can a strongly built car ensure avoiding of untoward incidents, especially when traveling with women and kids?

I understand you are upset with some niggles with these cars, but that doesn't mean we make unsubstantiated accusations. I totally agree with you that since Harrier 1st lot the left pull issue is there, and should have been fixed, and as I said, again, repeating these can be good enough reasons for few people to NOT choose these Tata cars. But again that doesn't mean we make unsubstantiated accusations that there are breakdowns all over the road of Harrier and Safaris.

I have to sold off my Harrier due to this left pull issue which resulted in uneven worn out of my tyres where THUG group members suggested sub frame shift while ASS is completely clueless The other issue was constant niggles on infotainment module. The after sales quality was also bad with they breaking stuff, soiling the interiors etc. Another issue I faced was rusting in bonnet, boots etc. The experience was subpar. I think it's better to buy Toyota with slightly higher initial investment and very low operational investment rather than Tata which is just the opposite

Good that you finally got the car back. One more thing, TATA should consider providing the Shift lock outside, other companies provides it near the gear lever itself so that you don't face trouble in situations wherein you have to shift the gear without starting the car.

Another informative video. I am an owner of Tata safari XZA+. It is just 2 months old, And I cleared my first check-up recently. TATA should really up their game. I have been following your videos, especially one related to DEF fluid. It does not give me confidence when they give assurance for 4k km with a full DEF tank. but I have heard customers saying it won't last for 4K kms, and I need to have one 2L bottle and carry it with me always. After my first check-up, my car came back to me with an engine check light. That's not how you provide service for a car that costs 27L (on-road, Pune). An interesting point is that when asked about engine check lights, engineers say it's common with tata safari, which is very funny. when you claim it is common with tata safari, you should work on it to resolve this issue. However, other than this, I never dared to take my safari on long road trips. I have seen your Goa, Mahabaleshwar, and Gujurat trip. But with me personally, I'm still hesitant. Please advise me, whether I should carry on with my road trip plan (Pune- Chennai is the plan) , if you saying yes then what are the tips.

Hey, thanks. I think you are being too over cautious about the car. Myself and 1000s of owners of Safari and Harrier are doing long drives from Kerala to Delhi from Mumbai to Assam. You are not the only one. Of course you can do long drive the car is created for long drives.

My bolero had a problem with its diffrential rod and many other problems but still it didnt let us to lose our hope while we did our full day trip from guwahati to cherapunji if u dont know cherapunji is just like ladakh but with half of its difficulties its just like a remote area in a hilly region but hadn't faced any problem very happy with its service given to us for about 10 years now with running ov 2l km so guys if u are ignoring cars like bolero and scorpio and saying that fortuner is highly overpriced than this are the only vehicles which won't get u in such situations .

I am all for Indian brands...i have myself been a Tata customer for over 15 years, but then, they're not giving you anything for free and trust me it isn't that cheap either as it used to be. The quality should be improved. 35k for a service is a bit too much. I service my Safari Storme with oil change and spared around 15k in a year. Hope the service centre is not taking you for a ride. The service centre here that I go to is very efficient, but has never been able to fix the left pull in the Storme nor the new Safari. The Storme is now 8 years old. I don't mind the Storme having niggles as its a car from an era where Tata didn't actually make good cars and it actually a lot of car for what you paid. 4*4 in 14 lacs. But with the new Safari, its not cheap and really gets on your nerves and really make you think of changing brands.

My running is 30kms approx in a year so it's possible. At 25.5 L Safari was very value for money for me. But this year after multiple price hikes its at 29L in Mumbai, VFM has decreased a bit. But then current automobile market is such that to get a good car within few months of booking itself is something that people are willing to pay more.

It is almost like owning old Royal Enfield Bullet. You buy and own despite knowing it comes with niggles and faults. One major difference is Royal Enfield have upped their game and are today producing most reliable world class vehicles today whereas Tatas are yet to learn their lessons.

You are right even in my storme my cam sensor failed all the way in middle ...But when I went to a multi service brand service centre he said- " Sir yeh common issues hai abhi Scorpio aur skoda ki gaadi b aayi thi unka b cam sensor fail hua tha ..." Tata Safari is robust car I have been using since 2012 but some glitches needs to be addressed by service centre guys ..The सरकारी approach has to be abolished to save tata image... Good luck bro..

Firstly Congrats that your car fixed!!! I own Tata Safari Storme Varicor400nm 4x4 i too have faced service and part related issue from the Tata. My car had run 49k kms and it came across a famous know issue of Tata Engines i.e EGR failure. Tata service center nor the plant were able to arrange the EGR for 20+days which costs 46+k. Tata plant recommended for EGR model change which was added and there were errors in dashboard and in OBD tool. Finally to fix the EGR issue my car was at service center for more then 60days me visiting ennumber of times no proper update nor the clear answer about the work process. So finally car was fixed with bill of 94k, Only appreciation about Tata is they took time to resolve the issue where the product is not at production but still tata engineer team were able to design the wiring kit and new software develop, Which i can guarantee no other manufacturers does it.

I need your suggestions whether to go with the diesel Safari . I'm asking you this because you've graduated from a petrol vehicle (Ecosport AT). Or should I wait for the the due facelift Tata Safari 2023 that allegedly comes with 1.6 Revtron Plz suggest. 🙂

35,000 service cost/year 😶 I have swift dzire vdi 2015 model. Driven 160k, no major issues till now. My only concern is, it has no airbags and has safety issues, otherwise I am a happy owner. I pay 7kto8k for every service including fully synthetic engine oil 🛢 change. 16km/litre in bangalore and 22km/litre@100-110 speed on highway

Kya dark edition gadi ka interior black hota jo ki eye soothing hota as compare to jet edition. Kya jet edition gadi ka seat ka color easy to maintain kiya ja sakta hai? Aapki personal choice pe depend karta hai. Personally mujhe dark interiors mein suffocation hota hai dum ghuta hai. Thoda chota space feel hota hai... But easy to maintain hota hai. Beige I love, thoda khula khula feel hota hai... Spacious feel hota hai... But little bit more difficult to maintain but not too much, it's manageable.

after 3 free services no need to give 35k/yr service cost to service centres..just change engine oil correctly. Also change air filter, Ac filter, fuel filter, coolant, and all that stuff correctly according to owner's manual and any car will run better. But it is better do this work in a authorized service centre. Just replace only the parts needed as per owner's manual..As per my experience all that damage happened to my cars are at service stations. pure negligence and irresponsibility. Hyundai , Mahindra , Maruti and now Tata same thing happened to me..3 days back our Safari adventure persona given for 3rd service and they completely deep scratched all the 4 wheels. One of the wheel is very severely scratched. One of the guy hit a back door with a barrel as he tried to squeeze a very tight space between our car and another hexa. deep scratched 2 places. a minor dent in bonnet. scratched start-stop button..totally frustrated with these people. irresponsible people. raised compaint and they promised to paint the wheels and replace start stop button.

Happy to see you again in your car :) Now I want to ask one question that is there any rusting issue (even in small number or size)?? I am asking this question because my car is exactly 1 yr. 3-month-old (10k - kms) and we are facing small-small rusting issues (tiny) special inside the hood and under the trunk lid. Regularly we are not washing our car (once a month maximum) and we have good parking space (under the roof). so, my friends told me that tata cars have rusting issue go for ceramic or PPF. here in Ahmedabad ceramic is almost 1 lakh for safari and 1.5 to 2.5 lakh for ppf (depends on brand). so, I am little bit worried. company told me that this rust is coming out from the inner side of the particular panel, so they will try to replace the whole panel or repaint whole panel in the warranty. I asked them why rust is there in this much of short period of time then they were beat around the bush!! thank you.

Thanks. Sad to hear about rusting. Honestly, I have never inspected my car in such detail. But occasionally I do glance through, haven't noticed any rusting yet. Ceramic is cheaper less than 1 lakh for sure. 1 lakh + is for PPF. But I don't think it will help as coating or wrapping is done outside parts not inside or behind ones.

And i think car body (chasis) have good antirust treatment but panels like doors, trunk lid, hood have somewhat less or improper anti rust treatment that’s why rust is coming out from the panels. Hi Parin it’s the waste of money on ceramic and PPF coating I’m having Safari XZA+ Adventure in 11 months I clocked almost 26000+ kms till date no problems and using it my farm and in dense city traffics . Make simple funda go to any known car garage wala who has good hand in denting and painting facilities tell him to polished your car in every 6 months which is dirt cheaper then ceramic coating and PPF . I’m happy with my car garage wala .and yes keep your all oils and air filters upto date . These company ST wala don’t allowed you go inside and check what they are doing with your car . That’s all my point of view . 👍🏻 Happy driving safe driving.👍🏻

Overall good insights and fair points provided on service and product. I agree with you it’s really very strange that there are 2 TATA dealers in 4 kms radius and they took 3 plus hours to reach that really annoying. RSA will take details since they need to know all details and verify if RSA is there on the car or not. But did they told you what was the reason for this failure? And that too so many parts. Someone had told me TATA Lena hai toh warranty Zaror lena nahi toh fas jaaoge. No reliability. Service is really poor I am not sure I have told you earlier but one of the nearby dealer where your car got stuck when I went he was preparing the car for delivery and that had so many scratches and even small dent when asked he said polish marke ho gaya. That is the attitude of Tata. Customer service if you talk about best is Maruti and MG top level.Good luck for your car hope you don’t face such issues again and happy driving😊

You are quoting major service after every 6 months? Unless you are driving 15000km every 6 months you will be doing an oil change. That's not a major service! You had earlier quoted as saying the left pull issue was solved earlier. Can you list out all the choti moti problems you faced and how did the car spend 40-45 days in service center?

@@TheSafariTraveller An oil change at 15000 km should not cost more than 8000 rs. At 30000 km it will be higher. I feel your service center is over charging. I would prefer Harrier driving feel anyday personally. My only problem with Harrier and Safari is service and maintenance. I like Scorpio N more than XUV700

Except general fit & finish and reliability....which is a huge headache. Something seems to be seriously amiss with Tata's quality control and production processes. Looks like production staff as well are inadequately trained and therefore lack required competency.

I personally don't like the XUV700 front looks, especially the chrome grill not convinced about the design from front. Safari's shape is more aerodynamic and proportionate in my opinion. I cannot drive a car of which looks I don't like just because of few features. On bad roads, the cabin noise is higher than Safari too. Suspension noise can be little. But yeah, it's steering is better than Safari, so easier to drive. It's definitely not 'next' level but maybe a slightly more practical option for a lot of people.

@@TheSafariTraveller Brother, I have shifted from harrier to xuv 700, and feels some 50 lacks car, yes i agree with you that front grill is not an aye turner, safari look is more attractive. Xuv suspension set up is not up to the mark, but engine is just an aircraft. You may not agree with me, but harrier or safari engine is just underpowered

Actually, I agree with you on the engine being comparatively less powered compared to XUV or even Scorpio N. Mahindra engine is more peppy, there is no doubt about that👍 Lot of people like that, for me personally sports mode pickup of Safari or Harrier is enough.

I recently took delivery of my Safari royal blue but I'm not happy with the paintwork there is no proper finishing 🙁 and showroom PPL are too busy only in sales they don't respond properly after sales very unprofessional behavior I have even complained on the Instagram also they dint Even call me simply gave me a message tell ur problem is solved by our team 🤯😇 ridiculous

@@TheSafariTraveller bhai suno 820 se 860 k bich m density honi chahiye......ye bhi akele nhi h tu mere mama n land rover discovery own ki thi diesel 2019 m......In January 2020 vo trip par the Himachal side .....vha unne phado m ek jagah diesel dalvaya tha .....uske bad bhai vo gadi ghr bhi nhi phoch payi even usne thk se highway bhi nhi pakda tha or uske injector bht Gaye the .....cab se ghr ana pada tha bhai......land rover makes bill of approx 9.50 lakhs .......they said that engine is overhaul completely which is covered in insurance ....

I have a harrier and driving from past 3 months - no issues as such…there is no left pulling issue, indian roads have a 2 degree incline water movement, the car just follows that, infact on a right incline road - my car drifts to right as well….i do think most of the people who drive cars and complain dont love the cars so its obvious it wont love you back - irrespective of brands, i had never a problem with any of my car as i loved it and it always loved me back!!

I am happy for you that you are not facing any issue. But to blame others who face issues as 'they don't love the cars' is absurd, illogical, demeaning, and insensitive. We are a group of 400 owners where there are engineers and SANE people, who all face left pull issue. If you don't find it in your unit, it's a good thing. But to make derogatory comments on others is wrong brother. Manytimes ignorance is bliss too.

Dudes who drive smaller cars wont realize that the pull for heavy vehicles is higher - i have driven santafe, pajero, storme, scorpio, fortuner as well and all pull slightly when inclined - smaller cars of maruti are very light and the pull is very minor due to the very less weight so feel negligible!!

Sometimes i feel we should have the capacity to pay 40 - 50 lac and buy a fortuner so we expect a fortuner - if you are spending lesser then learn to stay satisfied with what you are getting with that money - tata has done a great job, if i could afford fortuner - would not have gone for this so i love it and it loves me back!!, no offence to anyone but people who are not satisfied should go for fortuner

@@Geniusingh Sometimes I feel, some people need to learn that a car should not dictate their self esteem and make them live in denial. Typical Indian mentality, 'Mera beta, Mera gaadi perfect'. Some Indians attach their self esteem to their car 'izzat'. The left pull is 'very' pronounced in Safari for certain % of users. Even Tata Motors service center in many places all over India has acknowledged this fact. So when a company official is saying this, one cannot defend or justify. Even on FLAT road, these cars go left. Dude, its just a car, chill, a mechanical object, nothing wrong in accepting its imperfect.

Bro Fortuner ka bhi service cost 18-19 thousand nehi aata without replacement of disc pads….. and you can’t compare Toyota quality with tata’s….. this is too expensive for a car like this segement and so unreliable …. Look MG’s service cost they are so affordable and trustworthy….. safari sucks man

The fun fact is MG vehicles are not only Unreliable but also many times their service center takes lot of trial and error to resolve if problem is complex.Their clutch burns out a lot and many time check engine light comes.Also MG vehicles have high import content, so many time their parts take a lot of time to arrive. You can check owners groups for the real picture. MG people have strong PR team and they are present in most of the platforms and they delete any negative reviews on them. You can check many videos where MG has broken down, there you can find multiple people with different name commenting the same thing about how well their MG have been running since last xyz years. All of them have a copy paste template to them.....

Only if you take risk, you will get good reward....look at the positive points like engine power, space,looks and comfort, these attributes a Maruti owner who does not take risk cannot even dream of having! The thing these issues happen with MG, VW-SKODA, Jeep and xuv700 too. You can check their groups they suffer breakdown and their service center takes lot of visits to resolve if the problem is complex. Even Hyundai kia turbo petrol breakdown a lot. But the funny thing is people think only Tata breakdown and rest are reliable....
