Father Momotaro suddenly became angry with mother Genki. There seems to be a foreshadowing to this.　Gentaro was chasing after Father Momotaro to protect Mother Genki.　Mother Genki was injured by a bite or scratch on the back of her hand.　
Witnesses say that the foreshadowing of the fight may have involved an exchange between Genki and Kintaro. Only Momotaro and Genki know the truth.

He is hesitant in new situations and is a loner.
His father died before he was born, and he had never spent time with a silverback.
He had already turned into a silverback by the time he was 10 years old.
He is struggling with unfamiliar child-rearing.
MOMOTARO's father is BIJU.

She is 14 years older than Momotaro and has a role to support the whole family mentally.
She has had a tumultuous and eventful life.
She has returned to her birthplace, Kyoto City Zoo.
She had never been blessed with a baby but after meeting Momotaro,
she had two sons.
She is a very maternal female gorilla.
GENKI's father is MAC.
GENKI's mother is HIROMI.
First son GENTARO, male (2011/12/21)
He was separated from his mother Genki soon after he was born.
Genki's milk production was not very good.
He was raised by his keeper for his first10 months.
Because of this, he is very fond of humans.
His face is so expressive, and everyone enjoys watching him.
Second son KINTARO ♂ (2018/12/19)
He is just very strong-willed and independent.
He has big eyes and long eyebrows.
The way he plays a lot with his brother Gentaro makes everyone smile.
We can't wait to see what kind of gorilla he'll become!

Poor Genki. She's been through a lot lately. Living with 3 males ain't easy. The old girl is very tough but I fear her health is failing. Weight loss, tooth abscess, hair loss, the continuing knocks from the boys. For all of us who love Genki it's very tough to watch. I'm not embarrassed to say that I pray for her. .

I don't think they understand what is going on when they see things like this. Probably thought they were playing. A lot of people do not know how to read an animals body language. It's very easy to do, but i get upset as well when i hear someone laughing at a bad situation. Thank you for your post fellow animal lover!

@@theresapennetti3986 No animal especially primates should be living on concrete and steal. Its just wrong beyond anything. They should be in environments that mimic their natural habitats, Sadly this is not what they are provided. Truly breaks my heart. I've been watching a few chimp sanctuaries that were erected in the US and they have great habitats with natural grass and trees to run and play in. There should be NO concrete and steal beams. You can tell these primates are depressed and I don't blame them. These animals need A LOT of space for proper exercise, this place does not provide this or most of the asian zoo's. These animals should not be in captivity unless they cannot survive in the wild and NOT on concrete and steal. All of these places need shut down.

Acompanho a vários anos a família Momotaro, mas, confesso, que não está sendo fácil ver a situação do local onde os gorilas ficam se degradar a cada dia e parecer-se com uma prisão., sobretudo comparada a outros zoos do próprio Japão. A situação de Genki é de dar tristeza. Agree with you 100%.The enclosure is miserable. I feel Momotaro is seriously depressed - Gentaro needs to branch out and form his own troop (although I know these arrangements take time. Meanwhile, there is Genki and I am increasingly enraged about her treatment. I fear she will be euthanased by the Zoo rather than cared for. The world is watching Kyoto City Zoo very, very carefully and you had better pull your socks up pretty sharply!

I wondered why Genki ran after Momotaro rather than away. I think she was making sure Kintaro was protected and also standing up for herself. I suspect that although she was hurt they all have so much strength the gorillas must be quite controlled with each other. It seems to be part of the order of the group.

Momo’s lack of a father really shows in some situations. That was not a reason to attack so harshly. Silverback’s will bite a little and shake a gorilla to reprimand. He just attacked. But I’m sure Genki is used to this so she is wary of Momo. Little Kinny was being knocked all over the place trying to get to dad. Gentaro looked noble with his lips pressed and chasing his dad.

Has Genki lost weight? It's been a while since I last watched this channel. I have noticed that their enclosure is better equipped with trees and foliage and piping. That is good to see. 飼育員さん的に言うとモモタロウが状況判断を少々誤ったものの、小さなキンタロウを守ろうとするリーダーとしての行動というところですかね。 特に海外の方々からまたモモタロウへの批難が集中するのでしょうけど、群れの中の出来事を私たち人間が批難する資格はありません。冷静に見守ってほしいと強く思います。 ゴリラは、群れの中で多少のトラブルがあっても数時間後には何もなかったかのように平和な群れに戻れる素晴らしい動物。 その点人間の方が愚かで弱い生き物です。

ですね。牙ととんでもないパワーがありますから。飼育員はゴリラ達の爪は切るそうですよ。牙はどうしようもないですけども。 こういう喧嘩はどの家族でもあるようなので、対策としては、シェルタールームを作ることです。何かあった時に逃げれる空間を用意する。　海外の動物園ではそういうルームが設置されてるそうです。

I've noticed in gorilla troops that whenever the male silverback disciplines someone in the family the rest of the family immediately jumps in against the silverback and they usually end up chasing him off. It's another unusual aspect of gorilla behavior that i find fascinating and puzzling. The silverback is the largest, strongest member of the group and the only one armed with a gorilla's most effective weapons, which are their canines, yet the smaller, weaker family members don't think twice about going straight at the silverback, and the physically superior silverback usually responds by retreating and making an escape. I wonder if this is how gorilla families keep power within the group in balance -- if the family did not immediately stand up to the silverback when he bullies a member, then it's likely that the silverback would become too despotic and too authoritarian but the rest of the troop keeps him in check.

I haven't watched this family for a couple of months and I'm alarmed by Genkis appearance...she doesn't look well. Kintaro has grown so much since last time I've watched this family. I've never seen Genki do a play face before, and watching her play with Kintaro was fun to watch until Momotaro attack her.

Genki is too old and frail to be attacked too many men times-if it’s not her grown son, it’s Momo going after her. Look at how skinny her legs are… she has had such a hard life fraught with pain and sadness-she deserves to live out the remaining of her years in peace and safety. I think Gentaro being moved to a more suitable home where he has the opportunity to mate with his own female and grow a family, is what needs to happen and soon.

Gentaro has been violently attacking his mother Genki because he sees his father Momotaro attacking her. The day after each attack we are told that the attack and/or bite wasn't that bad. These boys are learning that it is ok to attack females. Gentaro has inherited Momotaro's good looks & his temper. But there is still hope that the intelligent, independent, compassionate Kentaro will be a good husband & father.

I imagine there is a lot of tension in that troop. That enclosure is a mess, especially compared to most ALL of the other gorilla troops on KZbin. It's small and closely restrictive with no place for the gorillas to roam and get away from each other. Sad.
