As a Thai, my experience is that there are not much differences in services among any private hospital as they all are excellent. The service is very much worst in government hospitals in general, but they are 10-times cheaper😂.

Thank you for sharing that! I have not been to a Government Hospital here, so I really cannot comment on the service there. But I’m sure like most government hospitals, in any country, they’re not as good as the private ones.

I almost got heart attack over your thumbnail!!! Feel so relieved it is just an hospital review and your are safe and sound!!! Though your infection is still problematic but nothing serious yet. I love Thai hospitals review anyway. ❤ Ps. I am Thai who love Thai hospitals because they have coffee shops, lounges, piano bars etc. it make my hospital anxiety subsides. I feel more relaxed for my operations. Even my friend who came to tend to me feel like she was in vacation!😂

@jensenchun4955 People in Thailand get free universal medical service using only their ID card (local calls it : Bhat tong or Golden card in English) from their local government hospital. With a fraction of money, they may ask for service from another government hospital outside their community. Those who can afford pay for extra hospitality service in private hospital.

Thailand has some fantastic private hospitals , Bumrungrad probably being the best. The only negative I’ve noticed about Thai healthcare is how much they love to over prescribe antibiotics for everything even not infection related which can lead to antibiotic immunity when you really need them.

Yes I agree, in Bangkok Samitivej Hospital is only for a middle-class Thai, which of couse couldn't really compare to Bamrungraj Hospital which was in the list of the 10 best hospital in the world!!!😄😄💕💕 For me as a Thai I only went to the normal hospital like these too because just only the normal hospitals in Bangkok most of them are still not that bad and that's why Thailand Health care was ranked 6th best in the world by the US magazine CEOWORLD in 2019 and gaining worldwide recognition for the quality of its healthcare services. But what I heard from the Elite Thai people most of them preferred to go to the government's hospital rather than go to one of the best hospital in the world like Bamrungraj because they believed that the most best Thai doctors and equipments are all over there like most elite Thai kids who dream to be a doctor when they completed their degrees most of them always dream to work there. It's just a culture my friend. 😄😄💕💕

Our last trip to Thailand we stayed for a month near Bumrungrad hospital where my wife got treatment for her issues. After we were done there we went to our house in Chonburi. Needed to make a couple trips to doctors, this time at Samitivej in Chonburi. I can attest that both hospitals gave great treatment and the prices were very reasonable. $750 for an endoscopy at Samitivej and it was done same day!

I worked as a nurse in Germany for 20 years in various hospitals. But I can't get used to the expensive design of private facilities. The deals made with the insurance companies, the amount of prescribed medication and the lack of care when someone is single and bedridden and has no one to help with showering or changing their nightgown. 3 years ago I was in the situation where I had an emergency operation - inflamed appendix. I didn't have private insurance back then. 4 days of stay cost me almost 8000 euros. on the 2nd day after the operation. I freed myself from all infusions, thrombosis cuffs and ECG sensors and dragged myself to the shower with my bladder catheter and changed my laundry. 2 years later I had an inflammation in my abdomen and a viral infection. the same game in another private hospital - no care. but this time I was insured. The amount of nurses is phenomenal. The work that 6 nurses do here was done in Germany with 2 nurses - of course with washing the patient in the morning, changing the gown and making the bed. everything is aimed at profit. and that is never right.

I live nearby and have some medical issues, and I found that Bumrungrad superior to Samitivej, even though it's within walking distance. I'm Thai and I also think Bumrungrad and Bangkok Hospital are better than Samitivej. However, sometimes it's really down to what kind of medical attention you need or which physician you want to see. Very informative video. I’m retired and lived in Bangkok for three years. I moved back to the states about a year ago. I went to Samitivej Hospital in the beginning of my stay. But I changed to Bumrungard Hospital. I preferred Bumrungard but it’s just a matter of preference. And my health insurance covered me for both. I have some health issues where I see specialists. I must admit. I found the health care better in Thailand than in the states. Easier to see a doctor and all that. When I first stayed in Bangkok I got sick also in the beginning. It was fever, bad cough, chest congestion, , bad sore throat, and felt really lousy. It only happened twice in the beginning. Then after that I didn’t have it anymore during my stay. I rented a condo. And I purchased a couple of air purifiers. When outside sometimes I would wear an n95 mask if I was aware the pollution was really bad. And there is a number of Japanese living in Bangkok. Many live in Ekamai.

In the States, I'm lucky to get into a doctor within two weeks or more. You are so so so lucky! My heart hurts with envy as you tour the hospital. (Heavy sigh) Where else can you get restaurants, a bakery, fresh juices, a grand piano playing, usually on Sundays, water while you wait and even a book-magazine store AND Expert medical doctors!!! AND where else can you walk into any pharmacy without a prescription and walk out with your needed antibiotic? More reasons to love Thailand. And the dental care is awesome as well. Sorry, but I'm bursting with envy here....sigh.

Unfortunately this translates in lung infection . I will be curious if you ever lived or try to live few months to 1year in small tourist coastal towns or islands. in Thailand to find out if this recurring lung infection disappears and less prone to respiratory problems . One of the reasons why private Thai health care is so inexpensive compared to the US, is that in Thailand they don't have to spend tons of money on filing insurance claims and getting insurance pre-approval, and pursuing debt collection from people admitted in an emergency but without insurance. Running a cash business is a lot less expensive and less overhead. I remember about 15 years ago seeing a TV report about a US doctor that accepted no insurance, and only charged $2 per minute of doctor time (no charge for nurse or triage time). Payment had to be made at time of service. Since most doctor encounters only last 10 minutes or less, that was pretty inexpensive even 15 years ago.

Bangkok has several tiers of hospitals. Samitivej and Bumrungrad are both top-tier. The second tier is very much to the middle-class people and there are plenty of them for example Payathai hospitals., Sri Nakarind hospital. Third-tier hospitals are small and geared toward the small community. Government hospitals are free for citizens. My Boyfriend was staying at this hospital last year because of Food Poison. I have to say that the Doctors and nurses were really nice and caring. Also the Hospital is really modern. He stayed for one night and since we haven't a medical insurance it was quite expensive, but the Medical stuff tried everything to make it not to expensive for us. I'm really thankful that they helped us, and also they could speak in English with us, that was really helpful.

Maybe look into buying an air purifier for your apartment so at least when you are home the air quality is good. Also a good excuse to leave BKKs air pollution to travel to the beaches regularly for fresh air. Lots of chicken broth would be good and herbal tea with no sugar. Turmeric would be good too as a natural anti inflammatory. You can do trips to Koh PhaNgan where they do detox programs too just to heal your lungs. The fresh air there would be half the healing. I stayed at The Sanctuary there and it was awesome. See if you can find a place that does green juices they are awesome jam packed full of nutrients.. otherwise steamed vegetables would be good. So hard when everything is fried there. All the best and speedy recovery. (Naturopath) Julie 😊

In 2011 my 8yrs old daughter got digestive problem while we were in Thailand. Vomiting, diarrhea, bloating and loss of appetite were her symptoms. She saw a total of 4 doctors before we took her to a private hospital, Phaya Thai 2. The doctor talked to her for a few minutes, without doing any urine, stool or blood test, admitted her into hospital. He told us this is normal for someone who comes from western country. They kept giving her medication through both by mouth and IV. Her condition got worse and by this time they could not tell us what was really wrong with her. After 3 days, we took her out of the hospital. Before we did, the doctor said to us "if you take her out now and anything happen to her, I will not be responsible". We flew her back to the US, her pediatrician did some blood work and found out that it was H Pylori bacteria. Put her on medication for 10 days and she was cure. We lost trust in Thailand's health professionals. BTW, the hospital bill was 65,000 baht or around $2,000 USD.

Think I paid about B4,000 for some antihistamines and NAC etc. Seem to notice a lot of people coughing at the moment in Bangkok. Some super spicy som tam can help move the phlegm. Your videos are great and I am insanely jealous that you were able to escape the USA before the collapse comes (so you won't end up in a camp like I will) .... BUT: one minor note: Does YT give you the option to also create non-HDR versions of the videos (alongside the ones you do post)? The HDR format just does not seem terribly well adopted yet. Even on my fancy new M2 MacBook, it's still a little wonky.

Quality is the same but they may not have a stylish lobby like the one you visited. Get well soon! Did the doc tell you where the origin of sicknesses came from? It seems to be a common problem in SEA that docs just prescribe anti-biotics, its faster and can handle more patients per hour. My doc suggested to do a swap first to see if the problem is virus or bacteria based.
