What surprised YOU the most about going gray or being gray? I'd love to know!

My husband loves my gray hair. I’m not completely gray and according to my stylist I have natural gray highlights with dark brunette hair. She told me she’s jealous of my hair. 😂

Thank you very much for this video! I have watched a couple of yours now but this is the one I somehow like best. It's so encouraging. Here in Europe gray haired women are more common than in the US (at least that's what I think), so there is much less pressure - but still. I'm 49 and I'm dying my hair since I was 19, because I didnIt like my natutral colour. I'm not sure whether I will keep my natural grey or dye it a little different gray, but I'll try it out.

Honestly, I think most people think I just decided to go platinum so it's been a good reaction. I, however, am struggling with how I feel as either having blonde OR gray hair because lighter does not flatter me as much as it does some. Probably what bothers me most is my gray eyebrows so I always darken them up before I go out so that they are visible. I really don't know what people are thinking, but I'm hoping they just think I'm being "trendy" cos going gray now really kinda is.

Oh, what SURPRISES me the most is that the texture of my hair didn't really change. I pretty much style it the way I always have and have not had to deal with it being wiry.

Wonderful! Me, too. In fact, my gray hair is a much better texture than my dyed hair.

Great segment, today!! I identified with quite a bit. Especially looking in the mirror and noticing oh that’s me because I had dark hair all my life. But that was then. Today I am enjoying my silver threads. This was fun and helpful today Katie thank you so much you keep getting better my dear.!!

I needed to hear this especially the mortality topic. I am 43 and working on being ok with going grey. I've realized that I am so sad to give up my life as a brunette (and sometimes red head). I haven't come to terms with spending the second half of life with just one hair color - grey. Which I know technically isn't true but seems daunting.
@KatieGoesPlatinum4 ай бұрын
I know what you mean - I felt that way for so long. I was very invested in my green-eyed brunette identity. But to my surprise, I don't miss it! You might be surprised, too (but no pressure - everyone has to do this on their own time - or never - whatever works)! The nice thing is that your natural hair will probably change over time (if and when it loses pigment). And some people play wtih wash-out colors - I'll be doing some videos about that soon. You have lots of options!

Thanks!!! It's all the questions I had encountered. I in my tries to go gray went blond... Big mistake. I am Latina, pretty light skin but I am not blond. I had that reaction in the mirror. 😂 Now at try number ...(Lost my count) I decided to cut off most of the blond and dyed the remaining blond part purple.
@KatieGoesPlatinum9 ай бұрын
I love that idea! People kept telling me to go blonde too, but I tried on blonde wigs to test it out, and I could tell that it just made my skin look terrible. My skin is too cold to look good with yellow hair.

Katie, this works for the minority of women who, like you, are younger and let their hair go grey. Many are older when they consider full grey--the grey cements the aging. It doesn’t do them any favors
@KatieGoesPlatinum9 ай бұрын
Thanks for your feedback. We will have to agree to disagree. Dyed hair can also have an aging effect.
@eileenfh78349 ай бұрын
I think most women look more attractive with silver hair than dyed hair starting in their late 40s/early 50s. Dying is damaging and becomes too harsh as we age. Silver hair is healthier looking and brightens your face. A touch of makeup even if it’s just blush and lipstick enhance your complexion. TRY IT…YOU’LL LOVE IT!!
@cathysandman92895 ай бұрын
@@eileenfh7834 I totally agree and have personally experienced this myself, and by observing others - those who continue to dye and those who stopped. I’m 67, stopped dyeing in Oct 2022 after 35 years, and have no regrets. I feel blessed to have white hair which I love & am grateful for, wearing it shoulder length, no layers with natural curl. I can also pull it back in a ponytail. I don’t miss anything that comes with dyeing my hair and highly recommend to stop the dye. At least consider it . . . It’s very freeing!
