Even as far as this video goes, as someone with knowledge of legal Privacy Impact Assessments etc. there's even *more* to it but making sure (from the start) you separate personal and KZbin/public personas is a superb idea.

Nick. I've had this problem since I started. People creating fake profiles with my picture and pretending they are me. What do you do about that?

As you come across them, you can flag those accounts using KZbin's flagging system. Go to their About page, click the flag and Report User. Use the option Impersonation.

This is an excellent video. I wish I had this video when I first started.. Thank you for doing it. I'd add one more thing: set up your channel under a completely anonymous gmail - NOT the one you give the public. Trolls will hack you and try to get your channel shut down. So when starting your channel, use a gmail address you will only use for your channel so if they try to hack your channel they won't know the actual gmail account it's attached to. Does that make sense? Yeah.. this is the crap we have to deal with.. :-(

Sara Makes Art I've had a couple trolls. Not over the top or anything but enough to get blocked. I just had someone pretend to be a makeup company that I had just done a review on one of their products. Someone created an account with the company name and left me comments. It seemed strange that they would do that as I hadn't even tagged them or anything here or on instagram so I did a little research and found their real YT channel. It wasn't them of course so I deleted the comment. It's ridiculous the work people will put in to this type of thing. 🙄

Another great video Nick! Regarding the 1st issue a great work around is to have a PO Box. I have had one since 1983...actually 2...one in Cincinnati til I moved to Nashville in 2008. Not only does it help with privacy but it allows you to maintain the SAME mailing address regardless of where you live...can't tell you how many times I've moved since 1983 but I've only had 2 mailing addresses ;). That sucks that there are Trolls out there...one of the drawbacks to the Internet. Lastly, I totally relate to the "gear-a-holic" syndrome lol but have been trying to recover from it ha ha

Great info Nick and definitely eye opening. I always appreciate the info that you share. I have a couple questions and I’m wondering if you can give me some advice? My channel has grown a lot recently and I’m wondering how much space I should put between my videos? I have enough content to upload daily but I’m afraid of burnout. I also wonder if I’ll get more views if I wait a couple days between? Do channels perform better in the algorithm with daily content, or does it matter? Lately I’ve been waiting until the views slow down a little and then I post another video to get the ball rolling again. I’ll also post a video that I know won’t perform as well in between videos that will do great. What would you recommend? For instance I watch all of your videos and would watch more if you posted more 🤷♀️

Hey question for anyone in the comments. I had a free trial with epidemic sound that has ended and now I just got an email from them that I got a claim on one of my videos for using a song from them. Is this because I used a song I had downloaded after the trail ended or do they go back and even claim the songs from during the free trail? And what do I do I cant delete all my videos. Is it okay to just leave it since im not monetized?
@CricutMakerCraft5 жыл бұрын
@@CRAVEST okay thanks for the advice! I didnt know epidemic needed links in the description I'll look it up. And I'm still kind of wondering about the epidemic thing. If I do pay to be a member and then cancel in a year do all the videos I post using their music that year become copyright claimed? Do I have to be a member for the rest of my life? Seems shitty.
@NickNimmin5 жыл бұрын
For epidemic sound your membership has to be valid at the time you upload your video so yes, it’s because you used a song in a video after your membership was over. You may want to join and then contact them to let them know and see if they can remove the strike. You can still get copyright strikes if you’re monetized or not so make sure you play by the rules when it comes to licensing.
@NickNimmin5 жыл бұрын
This is not true so I’m going to delete it so someone doesn’t accidentally think it’s ok to use things they don’t have rights to if they are not monetized.
@NickNimmin5 жыл бұрын
I deleted his comment because it’s not ok to use anything you don’t have a license to, even if you’re not monetized. The way epidemic works is, you have to be a member at the time of upload. Once the video is uploaded, you can cancel your membership if you want and you’re still safe with whatever videos you uploaded while you were a member.
@CricutMakerCraft5 жыл бұрын

Great stuff Nick. And my problem is I have TONS of video ideas! I'm overwhelmed with video ideas. It's finding the time to get those ideas out of my head and on to KZbin. lol... And in a way THAT can even be stressful. Because I'm always thinking I need to get that filmed or this filmed. And I do. Then I have tons of footage waiting to be made into my ideas and I don't have the time. Kinda depressing in a way. I wonder if others have this? Oh,,and having TOO MANY projects going on in the editing too. Right now I have 4 videos I'm editing.

I have a video about gaming channels.

Thank you for this video!!! I think this is one of your most important videos because many small YT'ers such as myself didn't think about these things. Most of the time, we're focusing on trying to grow. These other factors are necessary when growing to keep in mind!!!!

Branding watermark in your KZbin settings. You can get the same one I use at TuberTools (google for it and it will pop up) for two bucks.

100%, I had burnout myself when I was still doing gaming content. Between doing too much and being a bit too repetitive for my liking, I was overwhelmed and basically lost interest for quite some time. Definitely a valuable lesson, pacing yourself so you don't burn out.

From your videos alone I gained 3 subscribers in the last 2 days. Doesn't seem like a lot but everyone starts somewhere and I'm determined to continue growing ! Keep up this great content!

When or at what point do you think a real camera is necessary? I still use my phone and I will be getting a microphone soon, but filming with a real camera & editing on a computer scare me. .... If I'm wrong slap me with the hard truth, but I feel like my views are not affected (maybe effected? 😂 I'm horrible at English) because I use a phone.

You can look at the back-end of your website or talk directly with your hosting/domain provider about it. Some of the online providers like WordPress, etc. have it built-in.

Super useful as always Nick. I ran into a lot of privacy issues way back with my first networking business… A lot of crazy people out there, and even normal people that don’t know what proper boundaries are. Thanks for the reminder! I’m gonna go check out your podcast... 😊
