Back in 2009 I was working in a GPS solution providing company and we had a client from Dimapur. He had 10-12 trucks where we had our GPS devices installed. I was sole point of contact for helping customers with their software’s setup and other issues they encounter. The client was such a gentleman( even if he was super rich), he used to talk to me with great respect(even when there were issues that was taking time to fix, he was so calm and understanding) unlike 100s of our other clients( who mostly gets angry quickly and talk badly at times . We used to send Techinician from Assam to Dimapur and the technician says: every time he visited and fixed the issues with the hardware, the client would give me 1000-2000 rs tip+food etc even if he was not entitled to do so. Very nice people

Met Mr. Along in early 2000s. He is a friend of my best friend's elder sister. His village is not far from Assam's border with Mariani in Jorhat district being the last border town. Fun fact- Mokokchung had a very strong TV station. In 80-90s we would align the antenna to that station so we can watch DD National and DD metro.

I went to dimapur and kohima for my friends wedding and i was shocked to see how under developed it was, the airport was in a bad shape but on the way from airport to the hotel grand tizu it was the worst road i ve ever seen in a city of a state. I could see that corruption in the state is so bad that people who had fancy cars and went out to bars were all politicians relatives. I love the northeast of india because i have so many friends from the region but i hope it gets bettter because there are hundreds of underground outfits in the 7 states and locals have to pay to the underground outfit to be in good books to make living.

It's not corruption. It's the failure of the voters. Politicians campaigned & promised to give good roads and societal amenities. But if we take a step back and look at it, why the hell should they promise to fix roads? IT'S THEIR GODDAMN DUTY TO FIX AND MAINTAIN PUBLIC ROADS, not something to even question about. But our foolish voters get swayed by those empty promises, and they sell their votes for meagre change. That's how we end up having no actual change or progress.

Our north eastern brothers need to know that it’s not that north eastern people are treated badly where they go, it’s the same for every Indian who leaves his home state . We get treated badly by locals wherever we go . And the locals use the words or slang which can hurt the most. A Bihari gets treated badly in Maharashtra ,in southern states, in Punjab , in Delhi. Heck a Bihari gets treated badly in north east as well. A southern guy gets treated badly in same way in northern states, in Delhi, in UP . A northern guy gets the same kind of treatment in southern states like Tamilnadu , Karnataka and kerala . Not saying that everyone faces this issue but that’s how the case is. So it’s a humble request to my north eastern friends, don’t think you are being targeted because of your looks or ethnicity. It’s just that we Indians are non-accommodating with anything which does not belong to our language or area . The only plural states where I didnt face any discrimination was Gujarat and Andhrapradesh/ Telangana. I could be wrong . But things are changing and I am sure with more education and learning things will improve further.
