Hey there, everybody, welcome back to another video on The Retro Entertainment Archive. This time, it's an off-the-cuff brief chat about yours truly not being a videophile, nor an audiophile.
Frankly, I just don't have the knowledge, nor the experience to talk about such matters concerning video and audio with regard to blu-rays. Since I've been familiarizing myself with blu-rays and buying them since February and March, there is still a lot concerning technical aspects of video and audio I still need to learn about.
If you enjoyed this video, then please, by all means, like, share and subscribe the channel for more content.
It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much for watching.

you don't need to know about bit rates and technical aspects. just stand one foot away from your TV while a DVD is playing and look at the obvious digital compression noise that you can see and how blurry the image is up close, then popping a Blu-ray and look at how much clearer it is, then pop in a 4K Blu-ray and see that there is even slightly more clarity than with the regular Blu-ray. when you're standing 1 ft away from the TV it's pretty easy to see the difference between a DVD and a Blu-ray and even a Blu-ray from a 4k (depending on the quality of the master) a poorly mastered movie will look worse on Blu-ray than it will on DVD because the Blu-ray brings out all the details of just how bad the mastering job is. a good Master is the most important thing. as far as audio quality it pretty much peeked at the maximum of what a human is physically able to hear back when the audio CD came out in the 80s. 48 khz audio is high def audio and CDs are 44.1. audiophiles are a joke. they will tell you all kinds of snake oil Garbage about you got to get a tube amp and you have to get a $4,000 record player. they think everything analog is good and everything digital is bad. what they don't realize is all those records they've collected were originally mixed and mastered on digital equipment before transfer to vinyl. digital recording has been around since the 70s. and that tube amp they're using is actually rolling off the higher frequencies from the music and making it sound "warmer" so it's actually just distorting the music. audiophiles claim that they're all about hearing the clarity but they're actually just fans of distortion.

Technical knowledge of filming, ratios, etc. is appreciable but pretty much a subject onto itself. Sometimes it's worth mentioning when there are multiple versions of the same film, but that shouldn't be a requirement.

You definitely not need to have decked out hardware in order to enjoy movies, i also mostly focus on the movie and not its quality :D

Yes, that's certainly true, Christine. Thank you for reminding me of that. Now, mind you, when watching a film on blu-ray, I do like to see it without any technical flaws or defects in video and audio. It does kind of tend to ruin the viewing experience if those things are spotty or glitchy. 😉😀

Most people watch movies on their laptop in bed or on a phone. Who cares about the "technical knowledge" about this crap? Talk about what you like, brother!

Yes, you're right. Most people these days watch movies on computers, anyhow. In fact, I watch movies all the time on my laptop because I don't own, nor do I want, an expensive home theater set-up to begin with. 😀
