I think we need more silly, unpretentious comedies like this; kids especially do. The 80s was the best time for that. How could you not like the mascot riot? Even without the reference, it's hilarious.

The hate this movie got was ridiculous. It was just blow back for seinfeld complaining that comedy is harder to do in cancel culture.

I thought it was a movie along the same lines as the recent Weird Al movie, which itself was okay but probably didn't really hold up as an internet short stretched into a feature film ended up thin on material. The formula seems pretty similar to Unfrosted as far as a really tongue in cheek spoof on the brand biopic that features a plethora of cameos from big actors. If it wasn't for the streaming morass, I'd probably watch it. But I doubt it's good enough for me to even go figure out where it's streaming, let alone start a subscription there.

Upset? Got more of a "pity" vibe than anger, tbh, but I suspect those who dislike this fact will describe it as anger (perhaps as a defense mechanism?)

I admittedly didn't get past the first 30 minutes, ha. For me, it felt like a computer animated movie that was accidentally made in live-action. The world, tone, jokes, etc. would have all landed for me if it was animated. As live-action, not so much.

I thought the movie was a fun ride. Like you said, don't go into this one expecting Lawrence of Arabia. It is a fun movie telling a silly story; but, above all, it is a vehicle for some talented people to goof off and have fun. To my mind, a lot like Caddyshack. Though, I do not expect Unfrosted to rise to the cult classic level of Caddyshack.
