I remember (it might be a fake memory, but it makes sense) when we first got a microwave in 198X or maybe early 199X and my mother used it to make some kind of bizarre donut shaped, herbed-base pizza. As someone who actually cooked in a microwave in the 80's, I can tell you it was pretty fucked! We had to use Parisienne essence to colour the completely unpalatable-looking meat when it was cooked in the mw. Thankfully we all moved past that and only use it to heat shit up. I have to admit, I adore tri colour pasta. And spinach fettuccini. And couscous. Old fashioned, but delicious, bugger it. But those dishes.... look utterly disgusting. The dressing was making my face screw up in distaste, but the addition of horseradish legit made me gag. What a nightmare. You couldn't pay me to put that in my pie hole. Request time, though, Nat. Hubby loves gnocchi, but I cannot seem to make a decent gnocchi dish. Not something I grew up with, and not something I've eaten all that much. I had more success this week with pan frying it than heating in water, but my sauce did not seem to match, and I find myself absolutely uninspired by gnocchi in general. My mother recommended one of those gawdawful fridge-section supermarket pasta sauces, but I honestly loath them with a passion. It's weird, she raised us on homemade and I cannot tolerate anything but, now, but my parents eat some manky shit these day. Any chance you have a good gnocchi recipe to charm hubs? Extra thumbs up for Jim and for Jules and for that fecking fuzzy arse sweatband.
