I cut my own onions and agree with you about the pre-packaged kind to a certain extent. They don't only appeal to lazy people, they are also a godsend to people with particular injuries or disabilities. It's a great product for people who literally can't cut onions but can do most of the other cooking processes. They get to cook all the great thijngs you showcase and don't need to rely on jarred sauce or similar dodgy products.
