What's pork floss?
@hiroanz7 жыл бұрын
It's a horrible English name for a delicious Chinese food. Think sweet, savoury pork jerky that's been pounded into fluff....
@johnyang27 жыл бұрын
Just type it up on youtube then you'll see. There's two kinds, fish floss, and pork floss. I personally enjoy fish floss more, and it's actually more expensive.
@johnyang27 жыл бұрын
And once you find out what it is, then you can find it at Chinese grocery store in your country.

Mark and Trevor focuses on food and also gives insight into their personal life while Luke's girlfriend (camera person) is just obsessed with Luke's face. Luke got what it takes but more focus should be on food rather than how handsome is Luke.
@outtravel85397 жыл бұрын
I'd focus on Luke's face if I was his GF. What's wrong with a bit of eye candy??!! Personally I much prefer Luke's shows than Mark, no offense. Mark tends to scrape on the surface of things. Luke gets in deep, not just touristy stuff.

Hey Luke, awesome videos. Keep it up! My parents are actually immigrants from Taiwan and I was born and raised in the U.S., so it's neat to experience the culture my parents had growing up through your videos. I've only been to Taiwan once as a kid, meaning I don't remember a whole lot, haha. These videos are, in a way, something that sort of reconnects me back to my roots. Have you guys considered making videos about what inspired you guys to teach in Taiwan or what about Taiwan attracted your attention? I thought it would be a cool video to watch! I thought it would also be interesting to hear what your experiences have been with the locals as foreigners in Taiwan--are they pretty welcoming?
@LukeMartin7 жыл бұрын
People in Taiwan are some of the friendliest I've ever met. I have a video about teaching English in Taiwan you can check out! Im really glad my videos give you that opportunity :) makes me feel as though I'm doing some good! thanks for your comment :)
Thanks for posting all these great street food videos. Keep up the great work! I'm going to visit Taiwan next year and hopefully can try some of the food featured in the videos.

Luke, much respect to you. You starting to appreciate what real Taiwanese food is all about. Unlike a lot of Westerners, puking and cursing at it. Why? Because they don't get it!Let me give you an illustration, I don't care for Picaso's painting, but there are millions of people who would pay millions of dollar for his artwork. So Picaso's artwork is there for a reason. I just don't know how to appreciate it that's all. Same application when it comes to food, Westerners view eating animal organs as bizarre, but you can understand why we Asians enjoy them. Thank you for being open-minded and understand for it means being Asian.
@LukeMartin7 жыл бұрын
I like your description John! Thanks :) Ill keep on eating everything I can!
@BeastBrook07 жыл бұрын
Huge generalisations. Don't say "we" when you mention Asians because you don't speak for all of them. There are many Asian people who also don't like eating animal organs. "Thank you for being open-minded and understand for it means being Asian." ... Understanding what it means being Asian? What it means being Asian?? Seriously..?? And if someone doesn't like something, then they don't like it. No need to make it about race and make generalisations about people.

The bits at the bottom of the 四神湯 were pearl barley. The medicinal herbs are usually not in the soup that is served. This soup used to be my favourite when I was a kid, eaten with a 肉圓 ❤

@kevgam7 жыл бұрын
The medicinal soup is called "Four Fairy Soup" in literal translation. Why? Because the ingredients consist of four major herbs. Usually they are lotus seeds, fox nuts, chinese yam and fu ling (a type of fungus). But since fu ling is a lot of more expensive, coix seed is a common replacement of fu ling. It also gives less medicinal taste.
