It is on Netflix now as is Femme. We need more films like this doing something new and giving representation to minorities. I loved both films.

I really liked this film! I did compare it to FEMME but it goes down more of the issues of race when it comes to being apart of LGBTQIA+ . They start similar but they are both great films in their own right.

I really struggled with this one. Having loved FEMME I was excited to see another film tackle the subject matter. However I just felt this film tonally a mess. The shifts from romance to down right horrific at points just seemed a bit too sudden for me, I never fully brought into the chemistry of the two leads, and I just felt there was so much more that could’ve been explored/wrapped up that was left hanging (how would having Ayesha in his life affect the son? What happened to the son’s mother? What would his mate think of the whole situation?). I think that this could’ve worked better as a mini series that let you delve into all the elements setup and on display here, as some scenes and elements really did work for me, such as the first intimacy between our two leads and our lead coming out to his mother. As said, really wanted to enjoy this one, but it just didn’t stick the landing for me. This in part also might not be helped by the fact that FEMME really stood out for me as such a tight concept and story, where the pace was constantly flowing with an intriguing setup, whereas after the initial “encounter”, it takes 30 mins just for our leads to interact again - and even then, they’re not doing anything to push the plot forward, it’s meandering. So dissapointed… I really wanted to give this one love but it just didn’t do it for me.

Some very valid points here. Thanks for sharing. A series would have worked well for sure.

@@BoysOnFilm just remembered too that the first house/party he drives Aysha too is apparently a “secret party”, where wealthy men can indulge, but also the house they go to house uplights and looks like it appears close to a main road?! I know that’s small but over time these things all just started adding up for me and I just got really disconnected with the world portrayed here, which I probably wouldn’t notice if the story was working for me as a great Kermode would say. Glad it’s working for others though :)
