Could some of the falses have been a result of your Audi's driver assist aides?
@gammalight13125 жыл бұрын
@Vortex. Is your Audi's A/C on during the test? It could be pulling electrical draw on the alternator, effectively lowering/raising the voltage to your RDD's. I say this because when you drive slow, the A/C condenser tends to kick off, raising voltage. At the same time, your RDD's go off. With how much equipment you're running, I strongly recommend you look into a capacitor bank for your Audi to help regulate a consistent voltage to every appliance. Pro car audio stores sell car batteries with capacitor banks built in. Or you can get a stand alone capacitor bank to attach to your factory battery. They dramatically clean up voltage fluctuations and frequency. New cars aren't an exception at all to fluctuations. I run aftermarket capacitors on every one of my cars and even my home. I can swear on my life you won't have any issues, you will however have many notable benefits. You specifically will notice more then most. Car voltage stabilizer under the name Pivot w/ purple box and grounding kit, is good enough. As long as it's not the Chinese counterfeit Japanese version. But you'll find better.

quite some time ago I ran a Beltronics STI magnum it had a magnesium case and never had an issue with running through VA. Today its about using cheap materials like plastic which does not shield leakage from the mixer circuit in the R7. I wish Beltronics was still in the game.
@VortexRadar Жыл бұрын
Detectors do use plastic, true, but the casing isn’t part of the stealth. Most of the signal leaks out of the horn that detects radar so they use an LNA, specially shaped feed lines, radar absorbing foam, etc to prevent leakage out the horn. The magnesium casing isn’t what impacts things which is why the plastic shelled Redline (which shares the same platform as the Magnum) is equally stealth.

Do you live in an area where that’s necessary? Here in the US it isn’t needed by 99% of drivers. It is important where it is necessary though.

Took my R7 serial# 380 back for a #4000 jus for the least detected!

What we need to do is work on the Virginia legistlature to end this nonsense. DC as well since they are the only two jurisdictions that allow cops to raise money on radar detector use.

Great channel, excellent information. But, my advice is make friends with some cops 👮♀️ in your area, and get yourself a PBA, FOP, DEA card or a police shield for your window. Truthfully, the concept of trying to stay ahead in the countermeasures race has gotten super expensive, and comes with no guarantees. Now I’ve always had radar detectors in my car in the seventies I had a Fuzzbuster, in the eighties I had an Escort, and in the nineties I bought a Valentine 1. Valentine 1 was advertised as the "last radar detector you will ever have to buy". Turns out not to be true, and their upgrade price, from years ago, costs almost as much as a new V1. So, it’s a paperweight now. Now V1 is not selling any detectors, possibly because they are re-tooling and going to launch a very different product, or because they are shutting down. I don’t know. Laser Jammers, which can get you in a lot more trouble than a speeding ticket, if you get caught, are upwards of $4,000.00, plus installation. I’ve just lost my taste for the continued obsolescence of radar/laser detectors. Spending thousands of dollars on a black box is only going to assure you of one thing.....getting your window broken when you park your car.

The PBA card is a good idea too, but with laser jammers here in the US, the penalty for speeding is actually far worse than the penalty for using laser jammers. I hear you on being worried about breakins which is one of the benefit of custom installed systems. Either way, there's more than one way to skin a cat so use whatever works best for you! No argument here. :) Cheers!

evol 392 Virginia State Police do! Having a stealthy detector is a must if you live or travel to Virginia frequently. Also, some state police that enforce commercial vehicles have RDDs since operating a RD in a commercial vehicle is illegal--giving probable cause and sets yo up for a "special" inspection.
@DChiJEllis5 жыл бұрын
In Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Yukon Territory and Northwest Territory, RDs are illegal. My understanding is that the Ontario Provincial Police are very adamant about enforcing this law.
