I like my Jelly Star size. So I'm out. Thanks for the info. Little to no information on their website on the size. Jelly Star is my go to. I love it's size. The keyboard works fine for me. I also use voice texting sometimes by hitting the microphone on the keyboard. Then it just listens to me and types what I say. I mainly use that because it's faster. The voice, texting that is. Not because the keyboard doesn't work. It works fine for me. I hope they don't stop making this size phone. I would be heartbroken. 💔

Yeah, I type most of my texts with dictation too. I'd struggle a bit without it.

Just got my Jelly Star two days ago, then saw this announcement. Safe to say I still made the right choice! I want a small phone not just "smaller". Loving my Star so far, and will probably grab this in a few years when it's my Star's time to go.

That is if they don't produce a new Star for Android 15 by that time 😅

I've had my Jelly Star for 6 months now and it's just such a great phone! I'm excited for the Max but the Star is so adorable that people are constantly asking me about it in public. It turns out a lot of people are interested in tiny phones, I'm practically a brand ambassador at this point!

That image seems to be merely illustrative, and not necessarily to scale, but an approximation. From that, i'm willing to bet the screen size is 5 inches, in what looks to be the golden ratio of 18:9, which with minimal bezels, if i postulate a correlation to the screen size, its about 3mm on the sides, maybe 4mm up top, and what looks to be 5mm in the chin. With that, my take on the size would be an approximate 12.5cm in height, and 63mm in width.

Droid mini was my ideal size. We'll see what we end up getting. I've been using the Jelly 2 for the past few years, happily. I was just about to upgrade to the Jelly Star when I saw the mention of the upcoming Kickstarter for the Jelly Max. I think I'm going to hold off buying the Star until I get more info about Max. 🤞

Ease of holding is more important than screen size

I absolutely agree. Most people want bezels as thin as possible with the display reaching right to the top and bottom of the phone. But if that means my thumb can't reach the top of the screen I'm not interested.

If you want someone who actually got one and measured it (and compared it to the Jelly Star) then I would look at J0hnzoid's video on the product. I think it's smaller than you think (in the video J0hnzoid actually compares it to the iPhone 3GS and really enjoys holding it in his hand). It seems to be the perfect size of "small enough but also big enough". Honestly I'm extremely excited for it. They seem to have some things to iron out (most notably the camera taking tinted images and videos), but from what I can see it shows a huge amount of promise. I have had a couple Unihertz devices over the years and they are pretty much my favorite phone company just because of how unafraid they are to give us competitively-priced, well-specced, *different* phones that aren't just the same overpriced under-featured glass flagships of today (heck the device even ships with an insane 106W charging brick in the box. Take that modern smartphones!).
@Roos-Reviews4 ай бұрын
It turns out it's actually larger than I thought. It's massive. Unihertz claimed it had a 5-inch display, but that was not accurate because the 5-inch measurement was top to bottom, whereas most phone displays are measured corner to corner. So the actual display is something like 5.35 inches. It won't be a comfortable, single-handed phone as I had hoped. Like most modern smartphones, it will take two hands or a very awkward positioning in one hand to try to reach the top left corner with the thumb. It's also double the thickness of an iPhone 13 mini and heavier too. It's strange to me that they called it a Jelly when it is so big. I think they should have given it a new name and kept the jelly name for the one-handed phones that people know them to be.

@@Roos-Reviews Not to mention that for the bigger size we somehow lost he headphone jack. I would've considered it, but at this point I'll just stay withmy Oppo Find N2. It's still decently big, but at least I get more performance and a foldable for my tradeoff.

Yeah, they removed the headphone jack and even the notification LED. And the camera is so bad. I haven't seen camera footage that bad in more than a decade.

I hope you're right, I've been struggling to find more info on this. I was contemplating a jelly star as my next phone but I am now definitely waiting for this. Please oh please let it be priced right & have 256 or greater HDD & over 8gb of ram with a chip set that will make normal web browsing and phone use super snappy. I'm not bothered about game performance, I just want it to rake day to day tasks in its stride.

Yeah, for me it is just ever so slightly too small. I still love it though. The only thing that could tempt me away from it would be if the jelly max is everything we are hoping for in terms of size.

You didn't compensate for the 2-in lift that is on the keyboard it creates a depth of distortion • Width: 5.4 cm (2.1 inches) • Height: 10.8 cm (4.25 inches) • Screen size: 4.75
@Roos-Reviews5 ай бұрын
Are you talking about the thickness of the keyboard changing the relationship between the phone and the camera lens because it brings the phone closer whereas the camera lens is resting on the table? Because that would make a difference. I don't think the real phone was sitting on a real keyboard, I think it was photoshopped over the top. Something about the shadows makes me think that. I'm not sure, though. Plus I couldn't find the exact keyboard after searching for 30 minutes on the internet. But I do know that lens, so it was a much more reliable object for me to use for scale.
@Roos-Reviews5 ай бұрын
I was thinking about your comment some more and If it was a real phone placed on top of a real keyboard, that extra height means the phone would be smaller than my calculations. And for me that would be fantastic. I don't want it to be too much bigger than the Star, just a bit bigger.
