Travis is great for story movement and story respect. He makes sure everyone is respecting the DM's time and tries to reduce them from talking over him, and when plans take too long he forces them to decide by offering a worse option, which again respects the DM. @@user-Aaron- The problem wasn't their means of flying failing, it was that their will while flying was being overridden. However, Scanlan probably would've had to make at least one wisdom save to keep from directing the hand to drop them all in the rivers - probably once per round that it was carrying them. It also only lasts a minute, and can only travel 60ft per round, so unless it can carry all eight of them at once - which I would guess that it can't handle that much weight since the carpet couldn't hold them all - there's not enough time to cross all the rivers (Matt said 200-250ft I think? so that's at least 24 seconds one-way) with everyone. So it might've avoided the flying headfirst into the river effect, but it might've gone horribly wrong anyway.

vex has always been the greedy one. Vax is just a sneaky assassin
@Maldracai7 жыл бұрын
According to one of their early Q&A's, Laura always plays a rogue in RPG's and Liam knew this, so he made sure to get in there before her. It's likely why, as you say, she is more greedy than Vax in relation to their classes, but also likely why she chose Rogue as her second class.
@MulberryDays7 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I think they've been developing this dynamic on purpose for a long time. The half-shunned twins, the often-too-generous-sometimes-to-assuage-his-own-guilt thief and the sensible-dipping-into-greedy ranger (who is also the most capable of surviving on her own outside of society)....both over-correcting for their childhood, if in slightly different directions. I expect that Liam was going to go Paladin of Sarenrae (he certainly hinted it) but this opportunity was so perfect. And then Laura moved into Rogue at almost exactly the same time, Vex grounding Vax in his past, Vax reminding Vex of *why* they have grown into who they are. Reminding her that they aren't as shitty as the ones who snubbed and bullied them. They're not perfect, because neither of them wanted to play Mary Sue - but they have engaging faults and virtues, which drive the story and support the party. Which really, isn't that everything you can ask for in a dnd character?

I mean, anything in life can be reduced down like that. It’s about the journey, not the destination. Instead it was more like, “VM faces death in strange ways to a stream that has a memetic call of the void. In trying every trick they have in the book, they had to use their ingenuity to cross each stream. But their hubris caught up with them and they faced an enormous monster that was half plant half animal. Working as a team, they were able to defeat it, and even Garmile, an unpredictable wildcard, chose to save Vex even when he did not have to.” A lot more happened than just crossing streams. :/

Ok, it's been many episodes and I've still got many episodes to catch up on, but my thoughts so far... I like Travis. He's a good player and just really gets into his character. Even when it sucks, he rolls with it and it's truly a joy to watch. Having never watched the Fullmetal Alchemist series, I deliberately started watching it on Netflix just because of his role as Roy Mustang. Really great guy. However, I think I'm turning into a true Scanlan fan. Sam plays the game so well. He doesn't break character and he doesn't meta-game, but he uses the game and rules to the advantage of the group so very well. He's truly a great support. The use of Magic Missiles in this game is probably no true to the rules of the game, but the creativity of it in the moment allowed Matt to make an exception, and I'm glad he did. It was a really great moment, and Sam's done this many times in the course of the game. I bet he gives Matt fits but it's great.
@u.s.s.chucklefucker16575 жыл бұрын
Magic missile never specifies if it can only hit creatures, or enemies, it just says " blah blah, summons magical missiles to hit enemy creature, blah blah" but, considering how many different enemies there are, I think Magic Missile is more a sight based spell than a rule based spell, if that makes sense.

@@thefallencat2080 you really think some keynotes on overarching events and motivations is close to reading from a script?

Another sign of Matt being a good DM - Laura was deeply, visibly uncomfortable with every decision that was made about the broom, and clearly felt pressured to go along with what they wanted. She begged them to come back and Sam decided to do a perception check anyway. Anything that happened to her very precious item she was entirely powerless to prevent. That's an awful feeling! Matt choosing not to punish Laura for the other players choices is a solid move

Absolutely agree, Matt’s perception and understanding of his groups emotional states and reactions is awesome. I’ve heard so many D&D horror story’s lately of bad DM’s ignoring or pushing their players into things they’re clearly uncomfortable with or purposefully making the game unenjoyable for them that Matt’s DM’ing is a breath of fresh air. He loves his players dearly 🥰.

Something that I hope to accomplish as a new DM. I’m rewatching all of CR to help me learn how to be a good DM 😂

Hmm I think its a bit of his enjoyment in playing with the fears of the playerss and making them think about the allignment and stuff... he often pulls the "fulfilled prophecy" card when they are paranoid about something, especially to Laura... so when he saw that she was more worried about the broom than her friends, That was the punishment...the scare was ... But also I think he hates flying items with a passion, I dont know why he keeps letting them have those jhahahahhaha

@@abrilvonbunny6205 I imagine he expected them to return the carpet and learned from that one that giving flying objects is not great. As for the broom, I don't think he planned for Vex to steal the broom. The third carpet later was specifically designed for more room so I imagine it was a deliberate choice because they were close to the end.

I agree! In some games PCs die because of stupid mistakes of other PCs (but particularly players) and it's very shitty.

Also what a thing to write one divorce papers: "He made a terrible decision in our DnD game, so I can no longer love him." 🤣 I also saw Travis' soul leave his body.

As funny as it was, Laura seriously needs to chill with her greedyness. It's really gone out of hand. Would I be sitting at that table, I would be so annoyed because of her.
