As a train lover...this is MESMERIZING. I could work here shoveling dirt and just be happy to be around the trains. Have loved trains all my life.

I notice that there is an MP15AC in this video. I thought all the MP15AC's were off the roster, but clearly they aren't, so is this the only one or are there a few still active?
@GreatNorthernTech6 жыл бұрын
Ogeles Latest roster numbers I can locate for the EMD MP15ac's is numbers UPY # 1401-1487 as of 2017. As for how many out of those numbers are still operating in not certain. Good Question. Thanks for watching. 😊

I believe what you are referring to are the horn test microphone stands. At one point in time there were so many complaints saying that train's horns were too loud. So Union Pacific at least decided to test all of the air horns on their locomotives. What was found was that most of the horns were actually not loud enough.

Hi please can I have free access to that PDF map of Bailey yard or do I need to pay? I just began driving fuel truck out there and think it would really help.

Pretty disgusting to see those UP units filthy with paint and Scotchlite striping and lettering fading and peeling off leading to rusted carbodies. The UP probably no longer uses Dupont Imron paint as it once did for decades. More and more the UP units are looking like the CNW units used to look like just before we bought them out. There used to be a two bay wash rack enclosure at the west end of the service track, just west of the diesel tower now gone. We would bring our power in from our trains off the Y or Balloon track and run the power through a very high pressure "car wash" type system. Low pressure pre-wash, de-greaser, then high pressure detergent wash and rinse. This system kept the radiators, traction motors and dynamic brake grids clean and dirt free to minimize overheating. It was seldom to see UP units in such awful cosmetic/protective condition as they are most often seen now. And speaking of things "now gone", belt packs eliminated over 30 yard engineer jobs at Bailey yard too, and the parking lots at the hump and trim towers had more cars in them belonging to switch crews each trick.
