Mr Schaller, you have slowly been winning my heart to become my favourite watercolorist. Artistic draughtsmanship, poetic harmony, masterful brushwork. I see a lot of watercolourists fall into a mode of confident self-parody, but you always seem to approach your subject with fresh eyes with a thoughtful outlook. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks so much Mark. Well, I always try to push myself to see a little differently - with new eyes. Does it always work? Maybe not. But it's always worth it and pays off down the line both for me and - I hope - anyone else watching. Design, and painting are a just a way of problem solving . You learn a lot along the way

Artist Thomas W Schaller, thank you very much for sharing your knowledge, skills, thoughts, insights, commentary and experience in drawing, tonal studies, and watercolour painting. Your focus on light and shade, the simplicity of your tonal studies, the clarity of your design intent, and the resolution of background, middle ground, and foreground is so simple and clear. And your control of tones direct from the brush or built up wet into wet in one pass with no return s is a real lesson. But also your different edge control methods in background, middle-ground, and foreground is another lesson. Instructive, entertaining, and inspiring. A true artist at work. Thank you for sharing your experience and insights.

Thank you Thomas for another valuable insight into the construction of a life story in a painting from your personal perspective. If all of your experience can help us to develop our own capability towards telling our own stories even 1% more effectively we will have taken a huge step forward in our own art journey. Thank you for your time and expertise.

I only discovered you last weekend, and in the past week I have watched at least a dozen of your videos. I think I've learnt more this week than I have in the past 5 years I've been trying to master watercolours. tbf it's really only been the past year that I've been sparing it any real energy, but I think that is because I found my lack of understanding disheartening. You are a brilliant teacher, you make sense of many things I've struggled with. And now I have a lot of work to do on myself. Thank you.

Thanks so much Lisa - I appreciate it greatly, My whole point in content on this platform - and other teaching venues - is me trying hard to address all of what I miss is art education - Mostly a painter trying to answer "why"? Why did you use that paper, or color, or brush. Why did you choose this to paint and not that. ? What are you trying to convey?
@lisashaw21849 ай бұрын
Exactly!!!!! And I love that you turn your paper around, I do too, and always felt a bit self conscious. Mainly for my sketches, I love the sketching as much as the painting but can't draw a straight line or circle to save myself and turning the paper helps a lot.😂

Thank you, sir. That's a great sketch painting. Your advice throughout was very useful. Your tonal work on the shadows was exquisite and instructive, making much sense. And, finally, your supportive encouragement was appreciated, and well worth the time spent watching both videos in this presentation. My very best regards to you, from Northumberland, England.

Another cracking painting Thomas ,love the focal point around the columns l was wondering if you think the light in the right hand corner leads the eye out of the painting? But I do love it 👍👍
