Understood on the tester. Some folks buy one and share it among a group. Unfortunately, the parts are expensive.

Good day, sir. Could you make a personal suggestions, please? how I can protect myself from EMF in the apartment complex? I am a targeted individual for the last 20 years. I am only 57 years old, but my health is greatly declined during the last 2 years. Would you make your recommendations, please? I am being followed any directions that I am going...
@disasterprepper3 жыл бұрын
Hi Vera, you might wish to create a "safe space" in your home. Many people hang conductive cloth canopies over their beds to reduce the EMF exposure. Given that we're in our beds for 8-9 hours a day, it can significantly reduce EMF exposure. They look sort of like mosquito nets but reflect and absorb RF energy. Here is one that is recommended by folks: aaronia-shop.com/products/shielding-materials/shielded-chambers

@@disasterprepper I already looked at the options of the canopy frames around the bed and now searching for good light but still effective faraday fabric that could be laid on top of the frame. Would you have any good suggestions, sir? :)
@disasterprepper3 жыл бұрын
@@verazaborskaya2859 If you're going to build your own canopy instead of buying one, you might check out the fabrics at Filteremf.com. I would think that you'd want something sort of see through and that allowed air to pass through it.

Will your products work the same with CMEs? For example July 23, 2012 there was a triple CME much like a couple weeks ago except July 23 was the type that would send us back to the 1950s or 10,000 bc, We got so lucky that even NASA wasn't allowed to speak of this massive multiple CME until 2 years later 2014. Will your products work with that type of energy?
@disasterprepper3 жыл бұрын
CMEs pose a narrower but very real danger. They are low-frequency events that don't couple well into small-scale electronics, so things that aren't plugged in won't be affected. The CME primary danger is energy coupled into long conductors, such as our power grid. A long-duration blackout would have catastrophic effects on our country, so it's important to prepare for that threat.
@VictorGarciaR3 жыл бұрын
@@disasterprepper So my house and vehicles will be fine, but the grid itself will be gone? I am afraid it is a realistic black swan scenario. A friend has invested into solar and I am considering it, do you sell "kits" to protect solar systems, instead of the products individually?
@disasterprepper3 жыл бұрын
@@VictorGarciaR Your house wouldn't be fine if it's connected to the grid, but your car would be fine. Yes, I do sell ferrite kits for solar power generation systems, but I'm always happy to work specific products into kits if what I've packaged doesn't meet your needs.

Good evening Doc. Question for ya... Is there a life span for broadband ferrites? Say they only see the normal power flow and don't see any kind of extraordinary surge or transients Will they eventually need to be changed over time?
@disasterprepper3 жыл бұрын
As long as the ferrite doesn't crack or become physically damaged in some other way, there's no need to replace them. They don't wear out the way other components do.

Can you fix up a galvanized trash can to protect large items that will fit into the trash can?
@disasterprepper3 жыл бұрын
Oh sure, that's very common. I have a few videos of me testing trash can Faraday cages. The key takeaway is to use a gasket on the inside sidewall of the lid. We have them at: disasterpreparer.com/product/emp-gaskets/

Novice question... Solar battery Bank do these ferrites fit 10 gauge PV line coming out of panels feeding into batteries and would that be the appropriate placement for solar flare thinking panels are somewhat replaceable of batteries are not
@disasterprepper3 жыл бұрын
For solar power generation system batteries, we recommend either a large broadband ferrite around the +/- wire pair (if the wires are close together) or two high-saturation car ferrites (one around the + and one around the - lead). 10 Gauge wire is pretty small (perhaps 0.1"), so the high-sat ferrites are plenty big enough. As far as the panels, we typically recommend putting broadband ferrites around the power wire pairs (again + and - inside a single ferrite) up near the panels.
@jeffnelson29243 жыл бұрын
@@disasterprepper just to confirm one ferrite per pair coming out per panel. If I have three panels in series that would be one ferrite after the branch connector or would that be three ferrites before Branch connector
@disasterprepper3 жыл бұрын
@@jeffnelson2924 It's sort of your choice. You can get a large enough ferrite to go around all six wires, or you can get three smaller ferrites, one for each wire pair. Standard broadband ferrites work for this application since they can go around both + and - wires together. disasterpreparer.com/product/emp-ferrites/

Is there any device that can protect the coax line going into a modem? When the storms rolled into Hampton Roads off of Elsa I was lucky enough to fry a modem and a router.

There are coax surge protection devices. I think Siemens has one on Amazon, but I'm sure there are many other similar products.

I just saw an article by survivormom who mentioned an aluminum pressure cooker. Think that would work?
@disasterprepper2 жыл бұрын
I don't know for sure. I haven't tested it. It would likely depend on the seal around the lid. A rubber gasket would allow RF energy to pass through the seam if it didn't close nearly metal-to-metal.
@Richardofdanbury3 жыл бұрын
Does the saturation of ferrites gradually reverse with return to normal electrical flow or is the ferrite useless once saturated?
@disasterprepper3 жыл бұрын
Yes, once the current drops, the ferrite is no longer saturated. The problem is that most ferrites saturate at around 1-amp. House and car battery wires almost always have much more than that flowing through them, so the ferrites would remain saturated all the time, making them very ineffective. Hence the need for high-saturation ferrites.
