I remember the WDM 2s would come down with a passenger train from Azimganj, Murshidaabad West Bengal and the train would go to Katwa Junction, East Burdwan, West Bengal. We used to board that passenger train with brown and green ICF coaches from our native village and come to Katwa. That train still serves a connecting train for passengers till Howrah. But now the ICFs and WDM 2s are replaced with MEMUs. That train only carried passengers till Katwa junction and from there people used to board EMUs back then till Howrah. Such glorious days will never be the same. My father made me understand the difference between a diesel and an electric locomotive. He said diesel locomotives chug smoke and doesn't require OHEs and electric locomotives have pantographs for OHEs that would supply power to the locomotive. I still remember as a child, how the chugging sound of the ALCos mesmerized me. It was the most macho looking locomotive till now. I became an ALCo fan ever since and I named my channel after the ALCos. I miss the diesel domination and some old things that faded away with time. Thank you Mani sir for making me relive my childhood.

Mani ji, I have been fondly watching your exceptional videos which are of the period when I was mid twenties and had deep liking for trains, having worked in Railways. Great efforts in this compilation. However, a few more additions would have further been appreciated. One, MG Pink City Express and two, Bombay-Jammu Tawi Super Fast Express now called Swaraj Express. The latter had a similar livery to ICF Shatabdi, the only difference was sky blue color in lieu of navy blue. This looked amazing and was a treat to watch. Another was Sarvodaya Express which on its introduction had navy blue colored coaches with light color stripes in the center.

In those days even Indrayani Express had a pantry car! Now among the Pune Mumbai trains only Deccan Queen has one. In the pathetic Lalu era, pantry cars were removed from 80% of the trains in the name of cost cutting.

Hi Mani, I have been watching your videos with much fascination for years. This video is a truly remarkable one. The subject of IR liveries has intrigued me for a long time, but I never found any authentic material about it, until this video of yours. I have vague memories of these liveries: 1. Tamil Nadu Express in red and yellow livery, just like ICF Rajdhanis 2. Andhra Pradesh Express in royal blue livery 3. Kerala/Karnataka Express in green and yellow livery 4. One of Amitabh Bachchan's movies (probably Coolie) had scenes beside a train - that train had a very interesting livery 5. The original Mile Sur Mera Tumhara video had a train (probably Deccan Queen) with white livery and a matching white WCM loco (watch 4.14 at kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5vJZ6OtqbWkedU) You are a pioneering railfan, Mani. Your zeal, passion and knowledge remind me of Stobe the Hobo (kzbin.infofeatured), although his is an entirely different genre. Please continue making your amazing videos, and please dig out more gems, such as this video, from your incredible archives.

Very glad you enjoyed it. I, too, have been fond of liveries right from the 70s and miss them a lot. I remember the liveries of TN, AP, KK as you have mentioned. I don't know if it's true or not, but I have heard that the government is phasing out sleeper and general coaches and converting them to AC. This is amazing news, but I gotta say I'm going to miss travelling in Sleeper coaches... The breeze that hits you, the smell of fresh puri bhaji when the train pulls up on a station... The simple joy of buying food through the windows, that smell of hot grease when the train slows down... I'm going to miss all of that.
