You know my gorditas, pupusas, anything with maseca I DESTROY!!!!🤨🥺😢😭☹️ my masa was never moist enough it's like the cornmeal just kept suckin up all the water and I just couldn't get it rite. And as for shaping them well like they say"FORGET ABOUT IT"!!!!!!. These helpful tips may seem like no big deal but I think they make all the difference and are soooooooo helpful really. The oil as you shape and the patience and detail you show us how to shape them. I was a kid when my mom made them so didn't pay much attention to detail, she's not around to ask anymore but thanks to you "aunt Rachel" I'm gonna give it another try. Rachel, thank you so much for all of the incredible recipes you share, the way you teach with so much patience and detail. Your cooking style is so wonderful to me because you’re a cross between my mama born in Mexico and my mom-in-law born in New Mexico. Sadly I’ve lost them both and I miss them more than words can say. Every Gordita video I have ever seen stuff the masa before cooking it. My mom just made the gorditas and once cooked on a hot ungreased griddle, she would split them and then stuff them with different goodies, my favorite was refried Peruvian beans, queso ranchero and bacon. I’ve tried to recreate her gorditas with no luck. Do you think one day you might be able to make gorditas the way I described she made them? I’m sure you get a thousand requests so I understand if you can’t. Keep doing that magic in the kitchen cause we can’t get enough 😊. Mary 💕

Rachel , I made the Gorditas and they came out so good. I did eat mine plain with butter but on hubby’s bean and chorizo, delicious. Thank you . I want to make again on my electric skillet so can make several at one time. Let me know what temperature you used.

Hi Lydia, I'm so happy you made them, they sure are delicious, I can't remember what temperature I had it at and I didnt write it down, I'm so sorry and upset at myself for not doing it, but if I had to guess it would be a little higher than medium, like as hot as you would have it if you made corn tortillas, just make sure you get to see them turn golden brown but not burned...you want to hear a little sizzle when you put them on the oiled griddle, about 4 minutes per side and be flipping them around a couple times, thank you so much for your comment my friend. ❤

Mmmmm looks sooo delicious!! We always toast them on comal first then lightly fry. I’ve never made them with chorizo but I do like them with beef or chicken and potatoes and sometimes we smother them in red or green Chile. I love to learn new techniques and recipes!! Thank you!!!
