King Sun has hits. I remember seeing him in my hood in Paterson at the pizza shop on Park Ave when i was kid in the 80s definitely a legend to me.

It's a shame that a lyrical MC like King Sun was so damn slept on. Life is crazy because I'm 48 now, but at 15, 16, 17 watching Yo MTV Raps and thinking those same rappers would be on top forever. You don't notice when they fade. I can still remember 1989 skipping school and sneaking my ex-wife over when we were girlfriend/boyfriend and my moms in the hospital. King Sun on Yo!, On The Club Tip, Be Black, It's A Heat Up, etc. Then he was gone. Cool C, Steady B, and other slept on MCs as well

Totally can relate. Yo MTV Raps has "it's a heat up" on rotation with Def Jef, Twin Hype "Do it to the crowd", "Smooth" by Powerule..good times!

King Sun is a cool brother back in the early 90's I met and hung out with him, while hanging with a mutual acquaintance named Melquan.Melquan managed Gza , and Rza before they formed Wu Tang, and King Sun used to hangout with them too before they blew up.The connections with artists is very interesting.

This dude still chasing Rakim smh.. He’s been trying since the 80’s give it up son (No Pun) intended. One of the reason is in Paterson where you are really from you was considered a big goofy cornball. This cat whole career he’s trying to sound like the R, maybe the reason you was not up there them was because of you. That club song was trash too, Rakim would of never done that bs. You may not have sold your righteous name but you sold everything else. Rakim can stand on that name because he always stood solid and never sold out on his morals. “ASK DRE”!
