Awesome, I do like that these unit Reviews are less « competitive edge » style and more like « Things I like about this unit ». Instead of saying « you should take this and never this » it’s more like « if you want this model, this is why it’s a cool idea, and here is how you can use it »!

Great review and amazing looking paint jobs on them. I love the Dorn. It’s such a durable, intimidating and effective unit. I always try to get orders on my biggest units like Dorns and Baneblades because it feels so rubbish to miss with the biggest guns. Also, BS4+ is so susceptible to -1 to hit. Favourite load out is Oppressor, autocannon, pulveriser, triple heavy stubber and 2 multi meltas. Meltaguns feel just a little too short range and get the Dorn danger close and I love 18 shots from Stubbers from up to 18” away

I played warhammer like 25 years ago when I was young. Have the itch to give it a try again and have my eye on the imperial guard. I see the combat patrol for $136 online, seems decent. Recommend one of those and a tank or ? Maybe 1k points is my goal. I believe you get the codex buying one of those. I’m a finance nerd so trying to maximize spend and value returned is in my mind. Hey if you have an intro to imperial guard, my bad info didn’t see the video and I can watch that. Army looks incredible and your public speaking is great, good job! Thank you.

I'll definitely cover getting into the faction in a later video. I think thr Combat Patrol plus a tank or two is an excellent way to start. I think almost every build is fun to play (fast attack, tanks, walkers, ogryns, infantry, artillery, combined arms, etc).

Making a 2k list once I finish up more Black Templars. 2xDorns, 1xShadowsword, then some Officers+Infantry, mostly 60xKrieg, some HWTs, some Scions. But I got some Cadians from that Christmas box. So I went and grabbed Usurla and Leontus to finish the list. So I'll be able to go, many small squads, squads with HWTs, or large resilient squads. We'll see which goes best with the three juggernauts.

Great review, and beautiful tanks! Instead of the castigator gatling cannon I take the pulverizer cannon but swap the hull mounted meltas with the heavy stubbers. Its easier to roll 3 stubbers than a single stubber and then the castigator. Plus overall it gives you more damage vs elites and light vehicles at longer ranges while still keeping similar anti infantry damage up to 18". The regular meltas are in my experience too short ranged.

Your how to magnetise the rogal dorn video is how I found your channel, and is also the reason my Rogal Dorn is still unassembled almost a year later. Magnetising seemed too daunting, especially on the this. I ended up magnetising the sponsons on my 3 leman russes, and I'm glad I held off on the rogal because I made some mistakes and put some magnets in backwards. Also curious as to your opinion on Mordian Glory's opinion the regular meltas. Essentially, he says don't take them because their range only being 12", and if your Rogal Dorn is closer than 18, you've made a mistake. Obviously that's just his take and I'm *not* saying it's the 'right' one. I'm just curious as to your thoughts on it since you do take them. And any other commenter out there that stumbles on this new comment on a year old video.

So with ablative plating… what if you are hit with a D6+3 attack weapon, such as a demolisher cannon and they get 4 unsaved wounds. Do you only reduce the damage profile of 1 of those wounds, or all of them?

Just a single attack that you allocate to the model. So... it happens like this: opponent rolls to hit, opponent rolls to wound, you then allocate the successful attacks to the model, you choose one to be reduced, then to proceed to make saves and then roll for damage as normal for the remainder of the attacks.

Years ago I fan-made a Leman Russ variant I called the Leman 34 & this looks like it was inspired by my idea. It had an oppressor cannon, pulverizer cannon, a mounted stubber & lasgun on top, then it's side arms were a combo of lascannon on top & Gatling gun below it. My idea Rogal Dorn tank would have a single oppressor cannon in the middle like a trad tank, a pulverizer cannon, stubbers, on top would be the mounted stubber then add a mounted lasgun for the other nest, then it's side arms would be lascannons with grenade launchers. I could see this being a popular tank even in an alt timeline where the Horus Heresy never happened. I also have never played the game.

Interesting tank, a bit too many guns on it. The machine guns mounted low on the front would be highly susceptible to mud and dirt getting in the barrels so those are useless, same thing with the sponson mounted weapons, those would not be too useful but other than that, the Rogal Dorn is a solid tank design. $105 for a kit of a fictional tank is insane, though!

It's a juggernaut and usually creates a big challenge for most opponents but they enjoy facing it 😃

The latest designers have zero idea. Tell a 5 year old to stick guns on a tank and here we are. No idea how they fit the breech, the loader, the ammo, etc. It makes WH dumb. Might as well make a dragon with flames that come out of its feet and elbows while you are at it.
