What do I know about aviation technology? Not a thing! But, the APPROACH, "FLARE", "TOUCH-DOWN" were FLAWLESS! Not a BUMP, and only indicator that plane had landed was brief puff of smoke! "Reverse thrusters" weren't even deployed! This was a landing even smoother than a Mom puts her baby, in his crib!!! Phenomenal! Never seen anything as this landing! How I'd love to take this flight: North Sea, Greenland, Canadian Arctic!! Superb, and this video was magnificent! Thanks, Mr. Philips! @noelphilips7 жыл бұрын
Haha I did not notice that, I wonder if it was because we had a long run to the end of the runway for the termnal?
@nikoritz48507 жыл бұрын
inflight Video The spoiler are a part of the landing Checklist and must be armed always. The pilot has the option to set the spoiler back to off after touchdown, but in the "high work / level" progress directly after the touchdown, you have other things to do:-). Really interesting is that the spoilers normally go out as soon as the reversers are opened. Idle reverser is actually the standard, no matter how long the runway is. This mechanism is in case of a rejected Takeoff, where the spoiler is not armed on takeoff. I suspect quite simply a defect which has occurred for the first time. Some airlines have the standard that the PNF call out the landing actions like "spoiler,...reverse green". At the Airbus it is compulsory on all planes, at Boeing some operators use this too.

Nice one Noel, How was the actual flight ? Did you enjoy it ? I must know, how many GB's was this entire video before you edited it ? I like that you asked if channel 9 was on during the flight, did they do put it on ? Correct me if i'm wrong, but its 2017 right ? That 747 had no IFE at all apart from the shared screens ? That's awful if so. I think I must have missed the food part, was it any good ? I will admit I did not watch the full 12 hour video, but I know you have fans who will !
@noelphilips7 жыл бұрын
Thanks James! Yep I really enjoyed this flight, and the return. Some of the best flights I've ever had. The crew were amazing, nothing was too much trouble and very friendly. Total video was 180GB before I edited it, after rendering it's 54GB. I kept checking but they never put channel 9 on :( And no PTVs on the 747, just the overhead monitors which surprised me a little. It did have wifi though, and 'Private Screening' which basically lets you screen the normal UA over the wifi, although I couldn't get it working. The food was pretty good too, as always the salad wasn't great but the rest of the meals were great, they kept us well fed with snacks, chocolate, crisps and drinks throughout the flight, it felt like I was constantly eating! Thanks again for watching dude :)

@s_h1367 жыл бұрын
@Cookie_Swag_3003 Under normal operations spoilers are never optional, even with low final approach speeds. It's very likely that there was a very special reason to keep them down during decelaration.
@Mattdav967 жыл бұрын
Most likely a roll through to there gate so minimal braking and minimal reverser no spoilers needed
@s_h1367 жыл бұрын
+Matt Dav Even on a long rollout and therefore minimal braking and idle reverse, the spoilers are normally used. It's optional to put them down soon after touchdown to have a longer rollout but under normal operations spoilers are used at every landing. The reason here was something else.

Thank you so much for sharing this full flight video I really like it as I am always interested in airplane traveling when the airplane is taking off or landing and the beautiful scenery above the cloud and beautiful scenery below on the ground and also the modern cabin inside the aircraft

how long it takes to upload this video? and is it over 5GB file size ??
@noelphilips7 жыл бұрын
Hi, this video was 180GB in the camera, 56GB when rendered, and it took 3 days to edit, 26 hours to render and 12 hours to upload :)
@HeathrowFlyerTakeoff7 жыл бұрын
Wow! 180gb? 12 Hours is insanely fast though. I takes 10 hours for me to upload a 20 minute video. This was fantastic!

Thanks, Mr. Philips, for labeling various geographic locations, on this video! FASCINATING to follow the plane's heading, especially when the weather is as fine as much of this particular day's was! :)

**Liked** This video brings me great joy and distraught at the same time. Distraught: i came into the aviation game late and i never got to witness certain things like this aircraft being part of United, etc. Joy because I can see your flight on it and it's probably the only thing I'll ever get to see that's among United Airlines best aircraft on screen that is. Thank you for the awesome upload!

I took this exact flight (probably on the same United 747) on May 18. Had a full row of inside seats to myself and slept for much/most of the flight. Now I know what I missed! Great job. BTW, service was bad, 747 was old, IFE didn't work. Resolved it would be my last flight on a United 747 if I could help it.
@noelphilips7 жыл бұрын
Haha hope you enjoyed reliving your flight :) That's a shame, this flight was one of my best ever I found the crew and service to be very good. A shame you had a bad experience :(
@ozzieman557 жыл бұрын
No PTVs? Wow.. now I'm definitely not flying United.
@noelphilips7 жыл бұрын
Haha they don't have PTVs in the economy cabin, but they do something called 'Private Screening' whereby you connect to the wifi and use your phone as a PTV for the IFE :)
@ozzieman557 жыл бұрын
Is that free-of-charge?
@sebastianrm19737 жыл бұрын

that only applied to the 747s as far as widebodies go, which are around no more
@GarryWan6667 жыл бұрын
The crew did not armed the spoilers,well I don't think it was a mistake. Because Boeing's design is when the pilot pulls the reverser while the spoilers will go up. But in the video there's no REV sound and that explains why they did that on purpose. If these are not used,the passengers will feel more comfortable,otherwise you will feel the whole body jumps front... When the runway is long enough,you just need the main braking source--Brake

Amazing Work on that FullFlight Video!! Thanks a lot and Respect for that. How did you attached the Cam? With a Suction Cup on the Window,I think!? Is that legal? Cause I want to try that also one time. Greetz reen.
@noelphilips7 жыл бұрын
Yep it is a suction cup on the window - and they are fine, I've never had to take it down although I've had rude crew on American before who got a bit funny over it, although I was allowed to keep filming.

Nice to know. Thanks. Cant wait for my next Flight to somewhere... :-)
