What she did was a felony Federal offence, even without the biting. Once the doors are closed Interfering with a flight crew is a Federal Felony carrying a potential 20 year federal vacation, up to $250,000 fine and $37,000 in civil penalties. Sadly they usually (but not always) lower all the fines way down and little to no prison time. People need to have consequences.

It actually is part of their job and part of their training, though they hope the never have to use it. The most important part of a flight attendants job is passenger safety, they are not there to only serve drinks and terrible airplane food.
