I don't know if you guys meant it but the contrast of Bruno Fernandes sulking and telling other United players where to stand and wanting a free role while City's players knowing exactly where to be and moving into position automatically is illustrative of where the two clubs are now.
@jamescasteel89902 жыл бұрын
It's crazy because De Bruyne is playing a similiar (ish) role where he falls back into other positions like right back, but the city side is so fluid/organized that it works. When Bruno does it, Maguire gets confused and starts falling over which leads to Ronaldo running off the pitch which leads to Pogba dancing to keep everyone happy which leads to the press going berserk which leads to Kohler selling less sinks etc etc. Nightmare fuel.
@Blank94582 жыл бұрын
What you think is a free role at city is actually a structured plan if you go there I go here type of thing Bruno is just going all over the place doing whatever he wants

The reason Fernandes looked so good in his first 12-18 months was because he was the team’s lynchpin, he was the architect. The team was moulded to going through him, in possession at least. Now though, he seems to think that’s still the case while a useless crop of players are being given actual tactical instruction and setup, so there’s a real dilemma. I think he’s shown that there can be success when MUFC put a focus on him, but at the same time, he needs to be willing to be a part of a system that isn’t all about playing to his strengths and nothing more. RR has a fine balance to strike, and working with this bunch of idiots and being employed by another bunch of idiots makes that feel rather impossible.

JJ’s point about Aberdeen is literally what I was saying about Arsenal at the end of last season. Everyone was laughing at us for getting 8th - we were 6 points off 4th, maybe 3-4 points off EL spots. All it takes is 2 games and people would talk about last season very differently. Real lack of respect from JJ towards the technical ability of Azpilicueta , this is a part of his game that is underrated. He is actually very technically proficient with either foot, combined with his great tactical mindset means he can play numerous positions seamlessly in defense and even midfield. To reduce his input back to the water carrier leader is just nonsense.

I wouldn’t call that based honestly. Maybe based… on a hugely flawed economic system and political ideology that’s proven to lead to a totalitarian nightmare each time it’s been tried ;-) Anyway, I really dislike injecting any kind of political ideology (doesn’t matter which) into a podcast about football (I simply don’t subscribe to the way of thinking that everything in life is political).

@@willywonka7812 Where did you get that from? I was simply making a point that there’s nothing “based” in Marxist socialism (or any socialism really). For example, there is the official data on living standards of the Russian working class pre-revolution (I believe it’s from 1913) and post-revolution. There was a significant dip in people’s living standards and they remained way below the 1913 pre-revolution levels for 27/28 years. Only in 1940, or 1941, those standards finally got back up to 1913 levels. Moreover, the general rate of improvement of people’s living standards was significantly slower than in any comparable countries that operated under a market economy at that time. And there was also the problem of complete deprivation of basic human rights, the Holodomor and many other atrocities…
@willywonka78122 жыл бұрын
@@MaxIsStrange1 wow, the industrial revolution caused living standards to improve. What a surprise. And a revolution thst slipped the nation into bloodshed and paranoia caused a temporary backslide. Aarons has stalled because the centre backs next to him have gotten worse. A young fullback still has to learn from quality cb's. That's why if a team has one or two promising fb's with resale value, an investment into a quality experienced (yet slow) cb becomes good business. A Gary Cahill or someone could have taught Aarons a lot about positioning, tackling the ball with the inside leg, body position when blocking etc.
