I struggle with the scouting and assessment of players now, it's like we need to evaluate strikers on their pressing capabilities as much as we do their goalscoring record and assess defenders for their midfield capabilities. Based on that I don't know I have an opinion on Mbuemo without access to the data the scouts can call on and knowing what Amorim values in each position. Even if United have the money it's going to be difficult to get a deal done, I think clubs are still working through the transfer fee compression/correction that is happening because of PSR and the slower growth of revenue.

Wouldn’t pay anything over 40m for Mbeumo. Think the likelihood is we will get a loan in, probably Kolo Mauni and I’d take him. We could afford 40m if Casemiro and Rashford go. That would be a saving of 16m and you’d pay 40m over 4 years 10m per year you’ve still got 6m.

I mean not being funny, but his form this season wasn't even that bad all things considered, relative to the wider squad & league position. This isn't even a rock bottom low for him form wise, he's improved with assists/crosses in the box etc

@@d.b.cooper1 - if we’re talking about Rashford, his form has been decent. He still has the best goal ratio per shots on the team. 4 EPL goals from 16 shots. Look at Bruno’s shots and Garnacho’s. MR started the season decent and ETH benched him. ETH messed with his confidence. ETH then switched him to the RW to accommodate Garnacho. Wrong move. Garnacho scores every 5 games. RASHFORD scores one in 4 shots. That ratio would have decreased over time but he’s more on target. UTD hasn’t filled the vacant LB/LWB role which is important to MR’a success. UTD does not have a top striker to hold up play or bring others like MR in. How many assists does MR have? Weghorst was more effective in a team setting. With all this being said, MR’s attitude on the pitch hasn’t been top notch. I don’t care about what he does off the field in his free time. Can’t drink before game day of course. UTD is suffering because of the MR out agenda. There is no way he would have gone blank in all the games Rasmus goes blank in. All he needs is two chances to score a critical goal.

I like Mbeumo, however, fans will need lower his return expectations, will need to take away his penalty goals and take into account he would be coming in as an attacking wing back. He has played deeper and more defensively on the wing for Brentford this season in certain games.
