There’s a time and a place for team building exercises. And now that you are now longer doing PT tests in basic, I guarantee you (like a recruiter saying you can be a SEAL in the army) that the quality of our soldiers will drop.

@@jalencrisp I just got out of infantry OSUT like a month ago. They still do pt tests like you said but literally nothing is done against you if you fail. You don’t get recycled. You don’t have to retake it. The physical quality of soldiers is dropping tremendously ever since TRADOC practically stripped the company level of its power. It’s a bitch and a half to recycle even one person. Basic training is pathetic nowadays, especially since this “first 100” bullshit. Hear me now, believe me later, but the quality of soldiers is dropping and will continue to drop.

the shark attack was used during draft times to make recruits afraid to desert or try to leave or disobey, it instilled "were in charge your ours now" we dont need to pump out soldiers real fast right now, if we need to in the future the shark attack will come back but with no need to pump out soldiers real quick mind you who arent drafted they volunteer they dont need to be yelled at to know the DIs are in charge or to be to afraid to desert they volunteered, this is gona build stronger team playing soldiers and a cohesive team beats a single real good soldier anyday

I do not see how this was better than shark attacks. my company at basic lacked discipline and a lot got it right off the bus and for me when I got to see the DS's do the shark attack was not only awesome but also made it known A) whose boss and B) that this is no longer the civilian world. AIT's shark attack was harder but it also showed training wasn't over yet but weekends really were the times to relax and "shake off" some stress and hear from loved ones. thankful I went through training pre covid. I’m convinced that most people who are angry that shark attack is gone haven’t really accomplish much in the Army. Yeah it’s fun to look back and be like “ oh ya that was crazy” but in the grand scheme of basic training that was such a minor point that truly provided no real training value. I can guarantee that removing the shark attack isn’t gonna be what ruins the Army lol people need to calm down.
