The most Mormon state in the USA, which used to be the most Republican, is now Wyoming

Utah is still deep red, but less red than it was 20 years ago. 20 years ago, Bush won every county, but Trump lost Salt Lake, Grand, and Summit counties.

Even so, the state government has been a trifecta for nearly 40 years straight. Meaning their state house of representatives, their state senate, and their governors has all been republican since 1985, the longest trifecta streak in the U.S.

Is it going to become a true swing state or more like Alaska where the margins are close sometimes?
@TexasKosmonawt2 күн бұрын
@@SlapStyleAnims Maybe...? The closest it's ever truly been a swing state was in 2016 and in 1992. Other than that, I don't really think It'll be a swing state.

romney won every county only 12 years ago

@@TexasKosmonawt In both those cases there was significant 3rd party support and it's worth pointing out that Trump is pretty unpopular with Mormons. If it was any other republican candidate for the presidency I suspect that the republican would win 60-70% of the vote.

I know Romney’s home state was Massachusetts in 2012, but look at that 70% percentage, I just know we almost had a presidential candidate from that state.

Utah is the state where the GOP had its best results in six elections. Usually it's kind a receptive state for third party candidates.

7 states where they won every county

I would like to see Utah's original flag instead of that new one. Many Utahns are displeased with it (myself included) because my State Senator, Dan McCay shoved it down the throat of people without asking voters first.
@dizzy_jump2 күн бұрын
the new one is way better than the boring seal on a bedsheet. it isn't perfect but almost anything is better
@BrittonJOrwin2 күн бұрын
@dizzy_jump we shall have to agree to disagree. The new one is an erasure of Utah's history. I prefer the old flag because it preserves Utah's history.
@dizzy_jump2 күн бұрын
@ i don't really see what the new one removes from the old one, except maybe the eagle and a bunch of words
@BrittonJOrwin2 күн бұрын
@@dizzy_jump like I said, it erases Utah's history. It may not mean much to you, but if we erase history, we are doomed to repeat it. The main issue I have with it is, like I said, it was forced on us in Utah, without the voters getting a say. The voters should have been able to decide if a new flag is something that we wanted. Instead, a greedy politician put his interests above others.
