I want to know how many of United’s employees are sickened by this relentless culture. i.e. blood pressure issues, marital problems, not present for their kids (constantly thinking about work), afraid to call in sick with legitimate health issues Meanwhile, the psychopath at the top doesn’t yield bc he doesn’t have to. Things are changing though. Gen z is fn things up and we’ll need em. That’s actually how it’ll change. Power in numbers with the younger generation coming of age

Good point. I don’t know. It does happen in other relentless companies. Elon Musk’s biography is filled with divorces of people who work at his companies.

This is fresh, and I'm glad to be here to enjoy it 😂. Yes, I have been wondering why United is so huge a company. Now I'll head out to check Mr. Hemsley out. You, as a clinician, was spot on with executives who are emotionally disconnected from the true reality of what healthcare truly is. Most of them have never seen a patient suffer and die in their beds😢. They are all about the numbers and revenue and their stock price. Sometimes, I wonder, are those people even humans? 🤔

Those with vested interests hate them and hide behind the criticism that they are not moving the needle in healthcare , however, if they were outside of healthcare they would be darlings of incredible smart business strategy.

OMG. LOL. This was amazing. Your description of Stephen J. Hemsley was spot on hilarious. The guy is a classic irredeemable sociopath - as is the case with most CEOs CFOs, etc.

How come you fail to discuss the fact that Optum, interqual, United Healthcare are are connected. Change healthcare has both optum and interqual. They are all govt owned and posing as private organizations

My experience of meeting Stephan Hemsley was that he really did know the numbers. He was quoting employee satisfaction survey results. I know he worked very hard building a collaborative culture at UHG and Optum. He has been successful as have seen the culture change over the last 20 years that I have been teaching with UHG managers. I found him pleasant and enjoyable.
