I have one claim about one blood lab work with the United Healthcare Ins. They would not Cover. It's a part of the annul preventive physical exam, but the insurance would not cover it. I even called the insurance and doctor office before I made the exam appointment. They both told me I don't have to pay anything for the annual preventive exam. However, one month after the appointment, I got a bill that required me to pay one lab expense. Afterwards, I spent lots of time and effort to call the insurance but never got results except being kept in the phone trees, waiting, transferring to different areas, etc. The experience dealing with the insurance company really made me sick. They are doing very bad and no-integrity business for not doing what they say. They are a big corporation and just promote very bad culture in our country.

I live in Japan, so the healthcare here is socialized medicine, the same as in Canada, where I was born. Is it perfect? No. Are some claims denied? Probably. But the level of healthcare itself is, IMO, quite good. My wife had breast cancer a few years back and the care she got--chemo, operation, aftercare, radiation therapy--was thorough, the techs and doctors were more than decent, and even though we had to pay a fair amount, the system here covered the bulk of the cost. The US should really change its system. Socialized medicine and healthcare for all should be a right, not one in which the level of care is tied to your bank account. JMO on all this.

I had UHC insurance until 2018 when I found out, after having a kidney stone removed, that they didn't cover any of the anesthesiologists groups in my area. After that, I changed to a BC/BS plan, and have been happy with BC/BS plans ever since.

What kind of violence are you talking about ? The one that consists of letting a 4-year-old girl with leukemia die by hanging up the phone ?

While murder is never right, I think that people are simply fed up with the runaround they get from the health insurance companies. So, with Mangione, the frustration boiled over at the attitude the company gave him and he snapped. As for people reacting violently, while I don't agree, as a famous comedian said, I can understand.

The fact that he personally made as much money as he did just makes the fact that others were required to suffer for him to have that just surreal. How could he in any good conscience live so high on the hog, knowing his money came at the cost of others' lives being endangered? At the cost of other's actual pain ?
