The first time I heard this song was a few years ago when I was going through a break up with my ex boyfriend, and I liked it very much. Eventually I got married with the love of my life. This very week I was in labor pain for my first and miscarried child. I listened to this song through the period of labor pain. I still listen to this song every day since. The spirit of this song becomes much deeper level stairs to humility. It gives me peace while people around me trying to give me reasons for this happening spiritually and physically, none of which has to do with reality. But God is near and still the Prince of Peace through life's fragility.

I've been struggling with addictions, mental issues and lived a life filled with bad choices. Recently i found myself at my breaking point, the worst time i've gone through, i figured why not give it a try, why not try to see if a higher power watches over me. I have nothing else. In that moment i felt the presence of something that lifted me up spiritually, i smiled and understood. I've to prayed and thanked god every single day since.

When I first listened to this song I thought I fully grasped it's meaning and that's why I loved it. But now, I've been dealing with some health issues and life honestly feels fragile...I come back to this song and read and remember "I abandon my addiction to the certainly of life and my need to know everything. This illusion cannot speak, it cannot walk with me at night as I taste of life's fragility." And wow, the lyrics minister to me in a whole new way. Anyway, please pray with me to truly know God. A living breathing God. That has always been my struggle. Afraid that I've never truly heard his voice because he often seems so far away. Pray that I find this God, the creator of my soul and that I can leave it all in his hands and know the joy of living. I'm a random person but even if one person prays for me, I'd be grateful.

We don't need to be perfect before we seek Him, I love how Reagan expresses his heart for God in such a real and unafraid way. It brings me to realize my relationship with God even more. I would like to add Isaiah 53 to the scripture quotes ...that is what I thought of right away when I heard the line about a broken God! Religion was not made to put God in a box. God created religion, however over century's man has and will continue to misuse it untill Christ's return. In exodus God shows religion in life not to bind us or Himself, but to enlighten us, to free us. We first need to read and understand the context of His word to get a better understanding of the Lord. It's hard to grasp sometimes because how bad it's been misused. Beautiful music, and a perfect mixture of feeling and words of sorrow. But I am sorry, this song is not talking about Jesus. We cannot see Him or touch Him, but we still decided to believe (Peter 1:8). On the other hand, this song makes me think on the people of Israel when they were needing a God that they were able to see and touch and desired to create a golden calf. Let us be careful with adding words together without considering the reality of our God and Saviour.

When Jesus took the bread He said to His disciples, "this is My body broken for you." Isaiah 53:5 also speaks to the broken God. Philippians 2:8 states: And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death- even death on a cross! --Beholding humility means to behold the one who humbled himself on the cross. I didn't write this song, but I can imagine, scripturally, this is what they were writing about. May the God of the cross be known over, on, and in the earth. I hope this helps.

I am not sure, only the songwriter will tell you exactly, but I believe this is talking about Jesus' broken body and the blood he spilled. Probably taken out of Hebrews 12. The humility part is likely referring to just how much Christ had to give up to come to earth to die a death on the cross (Philippians 2:8).

These words can be interpreted different ways, but I think it ultimately means the sadness of God for those willing to choose sin over him. The song is calling out for people to be so desperate for God that they look to him instead of their own abilities. This is important because our human nature is not strong enough to handle everything life may bring to us. Hope this helps some. 😊😇
