In this Units of History episode we turn to the lore of one of the most fascinating regiments of The Empire. Hailing from the mountain fortress of Middenheim and protecting the Sacred Flame of Ulric, they are the Teutogen Guard!
We begin by discussing the foundation of the city of Middenheim during the Age of Sigmar. We cover how the cult of Ulric got its start and eventually rose to become a powerful force in the newly forged Empire. The episode covers the organization of the Church of Ulric whose followers actually form the core of the templar and state troop armies of Middenland as they seek to maintain their position within the dangerous Drakwald. We specifically look at the most elite warriors that make up the Teutogen Guard, their weapons, armour, tactics, and service history against foes like the Skaven and the Beastmen. The empire is one of my most favorite factions in warhammer fantasy and I never really understood the role of Sigmar in all of it until I did a bit more research. The warhammer fantasy world is truly one of my favorite things in the whole of fantasy.

@@thegametroll6264 Oh please, people focus on the setting as if it was actually a well-written story. The setting existed, first and foremost, to sell little toy soldiers. It stopped selling those toys over a decade ago in a steady terminal decline until GW relaunched it with a new one. It makes for fantastic lore videos and a stellar Total War game, but as someone who dipped my toes into it during 8th and switched to AoS afterwards, it really wasn't all that. The setting still exists, and that was the best part of it.

The kingdoms of men are truly some of the most interesting in the lore. I cant wait for all the additional legendary lords and heroes and sfo for warhammer 3, combine that with ovn lost factions and some additional legendary units. This will truly be an exspansive game series.
