Universal Audio OX Box vs a REAL cab!

In this shootout video I'm comparing 3 types of home recording amplifier sounds for guitarists:

Great video. The API preamps sound great! Think I will hold off on the ox box and stick with mics

Volume wise, you had the OX more subdued in the Mix. I id kind of the same test using an SM 57 / Royal 121, and Astonn Origin for room just into a Focusrite 8PreX . I got a more lush/full sound out of the OX than I heard from your demo.

Well done D. Question: After KZbin does its thing with the video/audio .. do you hear a big difference? Each recording approach can find a place in home studio recording. It depends on the sound you are looking to get in the final recording. What volume did you record the rectifier at?

Hey bother Vic ! The KZbin upload certainly compress things and I found I lost a bit of the detail vs listening on my DAW. As far as the Mesa, I had the volume at noon. 🤟

I was using the Boss GT8 which took me way way to long to find my tone which included shutting off the amp sims completely. After years of studio and stage use a spilled beer performing at a gig finally killed it. So I purchased the GT-1000. Better sims but in my ear truely toneless unless you like digital tone destruction and reprocessing away from your true guitar tone. So I only use the 1000 set up as a stomp box with its wide range of effects options. With all that said, I recently purchased the UAOx so I can utilize my real amps on stage and in the studio along with the GT-1000. It's all new territory and looking into how to fully make usable all the connection options I have available. I'm thinking eh! What can I lose? but more money, my mind, soul and another relationship. Hahaha 😆
