I would need to know the ohm readings for each of the four pickups. Which model Lollar was used? Did you have fresh strings for both demos? Guage and brand of strings? All of this really helps.
@denskilmusic4408Ай бұрын
Unfortunately I can’t verify the ohms as this guitar has long since gone. But as far as strings I used d’addadrio ny xl 10-46 fresh set on both pickup sets. Thanks 🙏 for checking out the vid. The lollar was just their standard p90 offering iirc

Saya baru menyadari setelah membeli 5 gitar dalam 5 bulan terkir di tahun 2024. Bahkn saya tidak puny bnyk waktu untuk memainkan nya. Benar2 menguras tenaga, fikiran dll.

I prefer the Gibsons - the Lollars are just too stringy/hifi sounding, not gnarly enough. I've found this to be true in my personal experience with them as well.

How does it sound compared to a Les Paul? I consider buying one. The look and the mixture of different Gibson models appeal to me. I know you sold it, but perhaps you can tell me from your memory?
@denskilmusic44082 ай бұрын
It sounded pretty indistinguishable to me from my other Les Paul’s. I really enjoyed the custom bucker pickups, ergonomics and look of the guitar.

The lollar sounded more refined almost like a $50 bourban versus a $25 bourban with the gibson....that said the bite of the GIBSON is something that sounds legendary to my ear. Best option get two guitars and have both.

Lollar pickups are beautiful sounding. I have played them in a eastman les paul style.

What preamp would you recommend with cabm +. I'd like to be able to push it from clean to dirty using od's. Otherwise I'll just sell the cabm + and buy the opus but not sure how good the preamp of the opus is. Two notes revolt interested me but many say they don't like it

Luckily, by some miracle, I have never had to change from the stock bridge on my American Vintage '62 Reissue Jaguar. Almost 20 years and it's still rock solid. I did change my Squier Jazzmaster's bridge out for a Mastery, I can't recommend it enough!

New strings vs old strings...
@greglavine40359 ай бұрын
Yes they are horses with different colors...the new pickups certainly were smoother and distinct but the Gibson's were raspy and raw pushing that reedy middle position out...that is great in classic rock ...but again it's like a new guitar after these upgrades ...I have done the same thing many times. And can't say I ever returned to a original sound I wanted to change lol ...

Of course, it doesn’t sound like an amp in the room. they never were supposed to. None of them do. It sounds like an amp in the next room with a mic on it that you are listening to through studio speakers in the booth. That’s what they are. That is what they do. If you’re looking for an amp in the room feel and sound from a digital device that also models the speaker cab and mic, you’re fooling yourself.
