Universal Orlando Construction Updates, Poseidon's Fury Closing Soon & Trying More Mardi Gras Food!

In today's vlog we head to Universal Orlando to see what's new! We went to both parks, Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, to see the progress of the construction, try some foods and we also went through the Poseidon's Fury walk through attraction because they announced it's closure on May 10th. We're not sure what will take it's place, but we talk about some of the rumored possible replacements. What would you like to see there? Let us know in the comments down below! As someone from the UK, when around a campfire, we do roast marshmallows but usually just eat them off the skewer. The 'smores' I know are made with two Digestive Biscuits with chocolate sauce/piece of chocolate/Nutella (Nutella is my favourite) and the marshmallow sandwiched between them.

I’ve been taking my daughter to Uni since she was 3 and this attraction was the place we’d go every visit especially for the AC and bc I love this show. She is now 22 and I still drag her to see it!

I was fortunate enough to visit Islands of Adventure the week it opened and one of the standout attractions for me was Poseidon's Fury. That said, your video makes it look very different from what I experienced way back then. I'm guessing the 'magic trick' no longer happens? Basically, you moved from the archeological dig site room through the water tunnel to witness the epic fight. As the confrontation reached its conclusion all of the lights went out and it was pitch dark but the battle raged on with thunderous roars and crashes. Suddenly all of the lights came back on and the audience found themselves no longer in the giant theatre but instead in the small, cramped dig site room they had started in. This was met with gasps of awe and wonder as to how we'd traveled back to that location without moving. It was a very impressive, magical experience.

The attraction was unfortunately updated a couple of years after opening. They made a whole host of unnecessary changes. The final room still transforms, but you instead start out in the smaller room, it transitions to the larger finale room, and then back to the smaller one, which ruins the effect IMO.

18:25 while I haven't sat around a campfire in a while, here in Australia it is getting more common to make s'mores, though we still don't have graham crackers on supermarket shelves so we usually use digestive biscuits instead. However, growing up we'd literally just roast marshmallows and eat them off the sticks haha

Oooooo I'm excited for an upgrade. With Epic Universe happening I'm hoping they keep the theming in the existing parks seperate. Big changes coming with Simpson's & Posiedon. I would imaging they scrap MiB & Fear Factor along with Simpson's & do a massive upgrade in that corner - a HP universe extension would be incredible given the source material to draw from

Aussie here. We don’t have s’mores nor graham crackers. If lucky you might be able to buy a packet from an international lolly shop that stocks treats from around the world. We just roast marshmallows on a skewer and eat them straight. We stayed at cabana bay beach resort January this year and we bought one of their s’more packs and had lots of fun finally being able to have a proper s’more 😋

I really think it is a loss to have that type of attraction taken away. Universal used to have a lot of attractions with live actors/tour guides and I think this is pretty much the last one. The quality of the acting isn't aways there but it's different from watching a video on a tv or whatever explain what's going on. I think the issue is that people just really didn't know what it was and there is not much about it that makes people what to go find out what it is. I certainly remember the first time we did it not knowing what we were waiting in line for. I think it would have been cool if it let to a ride instead of the final battle show, maybe they can incorporate that into whatever replaces it.

The Mardi Gras food all sounds so good! Also I always mean to say why don’t you carry reusable cutlery to the parks? I love mine especially when at Disney and places where I’d otherwise be using loads of plastic cutlery. Just a thought, plus they’re more durable than and don’t break all the time.

As you've already said Tim, the attraction dates itself, both the current storyline and the technology that powers it. Also even back before the Harry Potter days, what made the Lost Continent section of Islands cool, was The Duelling Dragons Coasters, and to a lesser extent The Flying Unicorn Coaster, so both Poseiden's Fury & The Sinbad Show regularly hot passed over by the masses in favor of the 2 coasters, so I was just as happy to see the bulk of that area be re-themed, and honestly get put to much better use, although in doing so they ultimately ended up doing away with Duelling Dragons as well, instead of trying to re-theme it into the Harry Potter Universe, which kinda broke my heart, because That was actually the Very 1st inverted coaster I Ever got to ride on, even before Montu over at Busch, Tampa, although I kind of personally refer to them as, "Dangling coasters," as opposed to inverteds, and I actually now like them More to a certain extent than the traditional, "On Top Of The Track," coasters, because on them with my feet dangling free, I feel more like I'm truly flying while riding on them. Either way, I've thought that area needed a Serious Upgrade a long time ago, and would l8ke to see maybe a dark ride go into there somewhere, and/or a motion simulator type of ride included there, themed to what, I couldn't tell you, but I'm sure they could come up with something Really Awesome if they put their collective heads to it. There my soapbox moment is done, just had to get that out though.

I loved the Harry Potter World experience with it being so incredibly immersive, but I will never forgive them for getting rid of Dueling Dragons. That coaster was my favorite as a kid and one of the few attractions I have strong memories of from my trip to Universal over 20 years ago. I kept a tally of how many times I road them, and I think I only rode Ice maybe 2 or 3 times, but I rode Fire over a dozen times.

Just hope that they do put something else in, and don’t leave it vacant like the Sinbad show for years to come. I definitely agree RE Poseidon’s Fury about the water feature being the highlight but not much else is hugely memorable apart from that. I agree with Tim. Poseidon’s Fury is dated and kinda cheesy but I did enjoy it every time I went to the park, especially that amazing water tunnel! I didn’t spent a ton of time in The Lost Continent section of the park but always enjoyed the atmosphere and flowing water outside the entrance to the attraction. I’ll miss it all for sure but I’m excited to see what they put there. My wish is that they’d base it on something from an iconic old Universal movie but that’ll never happen lol I know that won’t be as enticing for kids now as something from a popular animated movie or video game would be. Can’t wait to see what they have planned!!

The whole Lost Continent area really took a hit once the Wizarding World moved in. It's a shame to see one of the original attractions and possibly the whole land going away but that is a lot of area to develop and build a true standout attraction.

So in Germany we don't have smores at campfires. We have "Stockbrot" (translated means stick bread) which is a pizza dough-y type od bread wrapped around a stick. I don't know if the other thing is just my family, but we like to stick some pieces of chocolate in bananas and wrap them in aluminum foil and but them in close proximity of the fire so the chocolate melts...
