The reason the ET Ride has remained the same since its opening is due to Universal wanting to stay in Steven Spielberg's good graces. He was very upset when the Hollywood and Tokyo parks permanently closed their version of the ride. Steven would give them an ultimatum, keep the one in Florida open or he would never make a movie for the studio again.

I was at Universal FL on opening day in 1990. Steven Spielberg walked into Mel's Drive-In while we were eating and my mom said, "Hello Steven." And he stopped and said, "Hello, are you enjoying yourself?" And she said, "Yes, thank you." I got a picture of it. Later that day, my camera starting acting up and I was terrified that I would lose the photos in it (Film camera) so I went to the Dark Room to have them processed. As we walked out of the Dark Room looking at the picture of Steven I bumped into someone...It was Steven Spielberg! I showed him the picture and he said, "Hey, nice shot!" That is one of many awesome memories from that day. Also, Kitra, my name is Simmy. And of course E.T. NEVER said my name...I was always, "Friend". LOL. I feel your pain. ;) Thanks for all you do for us, we love you guys.

10:30...Jaws was a GREAT ride, but the ten acres it occupied is SO MUCH BETTER USED BY DIAGON ALLEY!! Diagon Alley is actually quite a bit smaller than Hogsmeade, but it doesn’t FEEL smaller...it feels like there’s So much more to see and explore

My kids and I did Spring Break in Orlando from 2001-2012 (from Texas). Good times... Islands was the best adventure ride park, Spiderman, Dueling Dragons, and Hulk were the best rides! If you are coaster fans, make sure you hit Busch Gardens, in Tampa, on your next visit. A great zoo and an awesome coaster park.

I would have sworn I got a poncho for $5... oh, but that was at Disney World. I think it was my final day of 8 days in Florida, 2 at Universal, 6 at the Disney Parks, and on the LAST day it started raining. I think I hid out in the Indiana Jones store for about a 1/2 hour, then broke down and bought a poncho. Still have it in my front closet! ;) I was VERY excited to go to Epcot for all the different world's and their food, but when I got there... I wasn't feeling it, and after walking through 1/2 of the "lands", I think I took a boat across the water, went on a few rides, and with Test Track closing after my first day at the park for 6 months (didn't know that when I got there, so I missed it)... I was done. ;)

I went to Universal Orlando in 2012 during my last year of high school. That was my first and only time I went to that park. Me and my stepdad are hoping to go there this year in October. I was also confined to Islands of Adventure, so I didn't get to see the main park's rides.

It’s a lottttt smaller and a lot of the rides are clones of the Orlando rides. My favorites that are different are the Tram Tour and Water World. Hopefully the Jurassic World ride will be open by the time you guys go.

When I was at Universal Florida, only the Isle Of Adventure Potter stuff existed. I was hoping you guys were gonna go on the Gringots "Bank" ride, since I haven't seen it yet. Back when I was there, the Castle ride was my favorite. I went on Hagrid's Hut, for the ride to only last 60 seconds and was VERY disappointed. And as my stomach doesn't like upside down rides, I didn't do the Dragon's Challenge or whatever it's called.

RE Fish and chips. nice looking fish but not traditional (British) chips. looks like they have a coating. grrr; The HP Sauce. Houses of Parliament, sauce. Traditionally this is an option everywhere, tomato/red sauce (ketchup) or brown sauce. The most popular ones are HP, or Daddies (its a brand, dont ask me why??) . Its actually a sauce made with spices, vinegar and sugar/molasses. Its based on Indian Tamarind sauce (I once asked an Indian friend why he was serving HP sauce at his dinner party lol). Its a link, or throwback to Empire, and is said to have been served at the houses of parliament. In the past many colonial soldiers, leaders, etc, would have served in the lower (House of Commons) or Upper (House of Lords) - very roughly analogous to HoR and Senate in the US - and thats where the branding comes from. Worth buying and having on a bacon butty (sandwich). Ideally just white bread (sometimes toasted), butter, British style bacon (not too fatty), and brown sauce. This is very popular here. Or instead you can put it on a soft: bun/barm/barm cake/bap/cob/roll/sub/batch, (other names also exit, all mean a soft typically sound, bread bun)
