These videos are exactly what I’ve been dreaming and wishing for! So helpful.. My favorite way to experiment with these plugins to better hear their characteristics is by printing separate stems with the mix of each set to 100% and use the fader of each printed track the same way you would in a parallel setup.

I actually really appreciated you all putting some of your plugins under the microscope yourselves with the spectrum analyzers. There's not a lot of saturation processors out there that are providing reliable quality, fidelity & authenticity. So please, please keep up the detailed work. I'd love to even see some more artist masterclasses with the guests we got FaceTime with in 2020. (Where's Fab?!)- Tales from the switch reboot anyone? But nonetheless, you all are providing generous foundations to everyone trying to make music these days ITB. Thank you!

I own the 1073, Culture Vulture and VSM-3. For me VSM-3 gets more use, it was 19,99 too which is great bang for the buck. The Culture Vulture and 1073 take like half a DSP core, one instance of either which is just crazy.

Maybe it's just me but when I hear saturation it always sounds unpleasant or even distorted as a condenser mic being overloaded. I haven't found one saturator yet where it improved the original sound I had to begin with. I think it works on electric guitars and a bit on drums especially the Culture Vulture on it but I don't like it on piano.

Great episode guys. Learned a lot. My fav was the hard clipping trick. I'm glad I've got the 88RS plugin to incorporate this to give more life and energy to things when required! Already tested it on an AD2 beat and it's the perfect touch. What do you think is the differences between the 88RS and the SSL E for the hard clipping trick? I'm guessing it's just a "different flavour". How important do you think it is to have both options? I don't have that SSL yet so wondering if it's important/helpful to have both.

Fantastic session...as usual. Everyone feel free to jump on me for the following, but...it's been a year now since Apple Silicon machines hit the market. And with the new M1 Pro chipped MBPs (!!) coming out...I'm moving back to Logic... due to the slow macOS support and lack of Apple Silicon support. I'll check back in a year.

Amazing. Question for the pros! Is it best to use a vocal saturation plugin on a vocal stem or use it in the final mix? Or both :)

@@UniversalAudio last question! Will an acoustic guitar benefit from Saturation or is it mostly vocals / drums etc? I do the folk singer songwriter thing and feel like saturation will help warm the tracks up !?
@UniversalAudio2 жыл бұрын
@@ryancohenmusic Depending on what you're going for, everything can benefit from it. Back in the day, EVERYTHING hit tape and therefore was subject some possible saturation.

@@UniversalAudio Just coming from a beginner to using tape - it seems less is more ? I find I only really benefit from it when for example on the oxide tape my input is -6 and output +6 - is that what I should be looking for just for gentle saturation on a vocal without distorting it? Again, you guys are so valuable to all of us. I appreciate you taking the time to help a beginner. I watched this whole video and it really helped.

About to buy Studer and noticed the warning uad gives you before purchasing. "Note: Your cart contains products exclusively for LUNA"??? I've been using the demo in pro tools fine and all demo vids are using it in pro tools and other daws that are not luna. So now I'm just really confused, are you able to only use the atr102 in luna or not?!?!?
@UniversalAudio3 жыл бұрын
You can ignore that if you're not a LUNA user. When you buy the plugin, you also get the LUNA Extensions, that's what it's referring to. 👍🏻

What do you lose bringing the prices of your plugins lower ? After buying on of your interfaces consumer is really blocked buying plug-ins or additional DSPs. It's so expensive for something that can be copy and paste ... I mean you're already playing monopoly here so wont you get the price which people can actually buy the gear for real ???
