Thank you so much for watching my video! I did have to lower the volume of the show, flip the image and change the transparency, and do so much to it to avoid a copyright strike. My first season Heartstopper video was blocked twice so I had to make so many changes to this season's reaction video. I still got four copyright claims from this video haha but no copyright strikes fortunately, so I apologise if the volume is a bit low, it's why I had the subtitles on the screen so hopefully that helps ❤

I've enjoyed the way you wear your heart on your sleeve in your reaction pieces for both seasons. When you said something to the effect of "Bullies, this is what you cause." the only thing I could think of was "If only a bully would watch something like this." I watched this with my bestie (I'm 55 and he's 59 btw). The only reason our community (especially the Trans population here in the United States) is getting hammered on so hard is that politicians need to stir up their base about "cultural issues" as they have no ideas about how to make EVERYONES lives better with proper governance.

The conversation with James and Isaac in Ep 7, the way James said "There is nothing wrong with you" and I was screaming yesss, and then he follows it with "you will find the right person" and I started crying, because it was so close to what Isaac needed to hear and then went completly wrong. No hate to James, he didnt know better, but please everyone stop assuming that love is the ultimate goal...😢❤

“You’ll find the right person” that annoyed me I was like “James no!” But at the same time it’s SOO accurate to the aro/ace experience that I kinda loved it.

This is why when I said I am so excited for Isaac to find someone it's not romantically, but someone who is also aro ace and can share their experiences and validate Isaac's feelings. He just needs someone to answer his questions right now and make him feel like he's seen and he's supposed to exist. Nothing romantic, just human.

He just needs a Sunil in his life (Lovelsss refrence). No, but honestly I would have loved to see Isaac have more of a conversation with the aroace person at the art show, maybe exchanging numbers so they can talk later on, or something. 🥺

@@louisamaren2899 yeah but I think he just started questioning so it made sense to me that Isaac didn't straight up ask for this guy number, and the guy didn't know him so he had no reason to ask questions. Reading a book about it is a more Isaac thing to do. And I'm sure we'll get more in season 3 anyway. Maybe we'll have other a-spec characters, who knows!

I already commented this somewhere elese, but here is my take concerning Charlie's parents: My big issue with them is how they only show interest in getting rid of the surface level issues, but completely neglect the underlying root issues behind their son's behavior. It's pretty clear one of big reasons for Charlie being so overly invested in his relationship with Nick, and consequent self-neglect, is because of his unresolved trauma from the bullying. The show depicts Charlie's parents as evidently being at least somewhat aware of their son's situation (given their overprotectiveness) yet clearly not bothering to address these issues in any meaningful way other than belligerently restricting Charlie's autonomy. It is telling that Nick's mom notices Charlie's eating disorder while his own parents show no sign of knowing and/or acknowledging the issue at all. Expanding on this, notice how the show depicts Nick and Tao's moms's committment to open vulnerability and mutual dialogue is crucial to their kids healthily working through their issues. Conversely, the show depicts Charlie spiraling deeper into his coping mechanisms largely because of his parents acting exclusively in a domineering and abrasive way towards him. Rather than attempting to understand Charlie's situation and relationship with Nick through mutual dialogue, they cut him out from the conversation entirely and only speak down to him. It is entirely a valid response for Charlie to feel frustrated at his parents (even though he may not be able to fully articulate it) for perpetually neglecting the root cause under the rug in favor of covering up its symptoms. It's also worth noting that Charlie's self-neglect is arguably a reflection of his parents emotional neglect. Charlie admits to Nick and Ben that he has subconsciously internalized a lot of the bad messages he got when he was bullied, and the show's focalization of parenting illustrates how his parents, as well-intentioned as they may have been, unfortunately started feeding into his issues.

Thank you!! They are treating him as if he deserves fewer rights and less autonomy simply because he is a child, while also not providing the emotional and psychological support all children (and people of all ages) need, which is unfortunately how many parents treat their children and how many adults treat children who aren't their children. Adultism is real

One of the key job of parents is to raise their children to be independent. They failed parenting on that count. I don’t doubt that they loved Charlie but… Mom contributed to Charlie’s trauma rather than helping her son. She always made it about her-she clearly needed therapy! (contrast with Darcy’s mom, with whom I have no sympathy).

The last scene with Tara and Darcy NEVER fails to make me cry. I am currently in a relationship with the most beautiful woman in the world, but her parents are terrible people that don’t treat her right and don’t deserve her. I remember how difficult it was for her to say I love you, and I always felt this emptiness when I would slip up and say it. Now, we’ve grown so much and say it all the time, and I understand how important that is to her. So I am going to spend every second proving how loved she is, just like Tara did for Darcy.

I wish more teachers would work to a student's strengths. Obviously there will be some students who are extroverted and love speaking up, and others who don't. And that's okay! @@GavinReadsItAll I agree with the being firm, but I still have issues with how Jane goes about it. Her choice of language, tone of voice, and body language all convey that she has no respect for Charlie’s agency (which she could have even while disagreeing with his choices simply by listening to him first). Julio’s expression in the car shows to me that he’s aware her approach isn’t constructive but he doesn’t step in. So yeah, I’m a little mad at her because she’s not paying attention to all her child’s needs and focusing instead on how they make her feel

I just love how you jumped scare when you saw Ben. Logical reaction. And I love thay Charlie said him this speech at the end of episode 7. If I remember, the speech in the comics is for Harry, I was a little disappointed to not hear it in the Paris episode but the way he slammed the door with "No" was so cool I didn't mind. And then I saw it was because they saved this speech for Ben and I was so happy cause it is perfect. People sometimes forget that we owe no one's an apology, and that having reasons does not mean ha ing excuses. I'm proud of Charlie.

I had the same reaction initially: how could they justify condensing Charlie's great smackdown to just "no"? But it was SO much better used to shred Ben (esp. with all the extra discussion that would not have applied to Harry). I used to think Ben and Harry were vaguely equivalent villains. Not anymore!
@ipurpleu1668
@ipurpleu1668 Жыл бұрын
@@mark99k I liked it too because some of Charlie’s trauma is directly linked to Ben. It was never directly from Harry, Harry was more of a reminder of the bullying from the older kids. From Charlie’s parents perspective on the coursework thing, I’m like… if I just found out that my child’s best friend who’s been at my house everyday, having weekly sleepovers with my kid, and spending all free time with him was actually his BOYFRIEND the whole time, then immediately find out that all (not just one or two teachers) but all his teachers are saying he’s not as focused as usual and on track to FAIL? Especially since last season it’s implied Charlie was doing well. I would be like ahhhh… so you’re making out with your boyfriend in my house all day and your grades are slipping? No no. Time for some space till that lil coursework is done ya heard? But from Charlie’s perspective I’d be so mad! Maybe they could have given him a chance? Like two weeks to get it together while still seeing Nick and if it didn’t work then they’d ban them from hanging out?

Thanks for your reaction, after binging s2 I was CRAVING to find out what others think. I loved everything about this season - from colors and camera angles to other characters' development and countless kisses our favorite boys've shared. I also love that even though there is some heavy stuff in the season, they're not focusing on it and show that there's always a way to deal with everything (through communication, community and self-care). ❤ For God's sake, even Charlie's mom is not that bad here (definitely better than Darcy's)! I am bi myself, from a very homophobic country (although I personally was never bullied, I'm not out to my family, only to my friends and co-workers) and I have no one who understands what I'm dealing with. Seeing that people from more "modern" countries are also suffering is both tragic (cuz duh, there are queerphobes everywhere) and a little bit reassuring - we're all not alone, and there's always a place we can call safe, even if it is just a fictional one.

I literally just finished this season like an hour ago (that's why I waited to see this video), and all I can say, it made me cry so much ... Nick coming out, Charlie's ED and specifically, Isaac's experience with romance (or lack there of) as someone who didn't know was ace until three years ago, I'm so happy that we and the new generations get to see this type of representation in media, and will show them that there's NOTHING wrong with them 💜buuuuut ... I screamed when James said "you'll find someone" because ... no! 😩 (I really recommend reading Loveless by Alice Oseman, it's a cute read to know more about the aroace representation/experience)

Two thing I thought of is that I Agree taos development was so good and you get to understand him more and his fears of loosing Elle especcaly and also he gets the love we've been wanting. Also I liked Isaccs story as well, now he's got more of a storyline and it will be interesting to see the ace story develop next season. Also I like his friendship with James (and the new friendship with neomi and felix), , not everything has to be romantic, even if cute.

Thank you so much for doing this season reaction. I’ve only just started it, but I know it’s gonna be a fun time. I binged both seasons in one day. Was nervous to start it cause I though it would be annoyingly unrealistic from my gay experience growing up (which it was) but I just fell in love with all the characters after the first episode so I couldn’t stop. Love from the USA! ❤🏳️‍🌈

I had a Ben (but 100x worse) in my school years and out of the blue after 24 years he contacted me... I pretty much verbatim told him what Charlie said in E7 last year and then blocked him after seeing he has read it... that episode utterly broke me... T_T

sorry I had a point there but my screen resolution deteriorated half way and I pressed send... anyway I love that it normalises not needing to forgive to heal, and the trauma came flooding back, AFTER TWO DECADES, when I simply got a "Hey, how are you" from this person. I didn't know I could have boundaries... and this person, and my mother, for better or for worse (definitely the latter), made me who I am today. And I've been thriving without them for years.

32:00 yeah i totally agree.. my parents are church pastors and my whole life and community that i grew up around was only church and religious people. I am almost 30 and its been a hard life, dealing with the turmoil and hate I received when people found out I am queer... I lost everyone, and they still attack me. Every day is rough im not gonna lie, but since I found my partner life has been a little easier. she loves me unconditionally and we just ignore the rest. It hurts that my family and the world we live in makes life harder than it should be, but unfortunately this is the world we live in.. we need people to be willing to love and understand more..I wish all the love and healing out there to my fellow queer family... you guys arent alone and I care and love you.

This was an AMAZING SEASON! Even a little bit better then the first one. But the first one was just as AMAZING but this one edge up just a little bit. I love all of the character development and how we are getting more of them. I was worried about how they were going to introduce the eating disorder element from the graphic novels but they did such a good job. Isaac character development was one of my favorites. He is my soul fictional best friend. I honestly think we should have an Isaac in our lives. I can not wait for season 3. Also Gavin you are an inspiration and amazing person!!! I love your content and your personality keep giving us sweet, funny, outrageous content ❤

the thing is i relate to darcy so much. i have an ok relationship with my mother, and i feel like if i were straight, then she would just love me with all her heart. but im not. and some part of her knows that, but she'll never admit it. i cant watch the ending of episode 7 without breaking down into tears, and i know that its because my mom would be exactly like that. it breaks my heart that my mom will never be fully excepted by my own mother, and it hurts me even more to know that darcy is going through the same thing i am

There’s definitely a conversation that needs to be had, so I’d like to start that conversation. It’s absolutely baffling to me that there are still so many people out there who truly believe that being any form of queer is a choice. I don’t get how some people believe there’s a choice, because who in their right mind would choose to be relentlessly bullied, harassed, and questioned? If I know that I will be verbally tortured, called names, possibly physically harassed, or even killed I would never choose to be queer. No one would choose that. I think there needs to be a lot more acceptance in the world and that’s why I love Heartstopper so much, because it shows a different side of queer representation than we get in most forms of queer media. At the end of the day there is no choice, we love who we love, and Trixie Mattel said it best. Being queer is not hard, straight people make being queer hard.
