This video explains classical physics to the bewildering uncertainties of quantum mechanics. It discusses the Copenhagen interpretation, which suggests that observation collapses the quantum superposition into a definite state, using Schrödinger's cat as an example. However, this interpretation lacks a clear mechanism for the collapse. It then explore the Multiverse interpretation, where observation leads to branching universes, but this raises questions about the nature of observation and the testability of the theory. The video remains unsatisfied with all interpretations, feeling that quantum mechanics leaves the foundation of our world uncertain and elusive.
In this video we’ll walk you through:
0:05 Understanding physical phenomena
0:20 Introduction to quantum mechanics
0:50 Introduction to Copenhagen interpretation
1:04 Schrödinger's cat experiment
2:20 Introduction to Multiverse interpretation
4:08 Various interpretations of quantum mechanics

We each exist upon an island of uncertainty within an endless ocean of the unknown.

We really need to have more theoretical ideas for quantum mechanics, as both the multi-verse theory and the Copenhagen interpretation are both completely inadequate theories. They are like astronomy before Kepler: able to predict events but unable to explain them. It feels like we are at a bottleneck of scientific understanding right now. The LHC seems to show hints of other physics, but is not providing any answers. It seems like we are just stuck with Moore's Law improving computing, but little new discoveries are being made. What is dark matter? What is dark energy? Where are the other life-forms and civilizations in the galaxy? I hope we can start finding some answers again soon.

There's a channel here on KZbin called TWTWW that's about a greatly improved version of the many worlds interpretation that you will definitely find interesting.

I really like how you simply explained decoherence.

So visible light is the reason for the wave function to collapse? How about other types of measuring equipment?

This video, while providing valid information, bothered me in that your premise which is “quantum mechanics is still groundless” boiled down to 4ish minutes of explanation followed by “none of them satisfy me”. It would’ve been better to answer WHY it was that they didn’t satisfy you. Was it because current models are untestable or lacking clarity of scope? That it was to undefinable? It’s just a little shameful it ended with a statement of thought instead of a response to that statement.

That's nice, but the only problem with your assertion is that QM makes accurate predictions. So shut up and calculate.

Nobody denies it makes accurate predictions. The question is to understand what then it has "captured" from the world to be able to do so.

@shimrrashai-rc8fq The video title says it's groundless. That's simply untrue. Just because the theory doesn't tell you how, doesn't make it groundless.

If this was called Schrodinger's Dog Theory, he would never have been famous because no one likes to think about a dead dog.
