1. It's really hard 2. It"s ok to get lower grades than expected - don't be disheartened 3. You will need many folders + be organised (a day folder + seperate subject folders ) 4. You will never have a lot of free time 5. Use your frees to do hw / revision - don't waste them 6. Write notes / flashcards / mindmaps after every lesson so you don't fall behind 7. Revise for all mini-tests 8. Talk to your teachers if you need help etc. (don't put it off if you don't understand something) 9. It's ok if your friendship groups change 10. You will grow a lot as a person in yr 12

@Sarah-uw7eg4 жыл бұрын
I agree with all of these (as someone who's just had their year 13 cut short by covid) :) Some other things that helped me are - 1. Look over the work before the lesson so you at least know what new keywords and stuff mean and you already know the simple concepts so you can just focus on understanding the hard stuff 2. It's kind of annoying, but revise your year 12 content in the summer holidays between year 12 and 13. Year 12 to year 13 is another big step and I found that my teachers just kind of assumed all year 12 knowledge going into year 13. Be aware that year 13 content is a lot harder than year 12 3. If you're doing an EPQ, if possible get it done before the start of year 13. I left mine until when it was due in, Christmas of year 13, and it was an absolute nightmare because I was also super busy with mocks and uni interviews. I ended up printing it about 2 hours before it was due in Bonus medicine application tips - 4. Do the UCAT as early as possible. I'd definitely recommend getting it done before the end of the summer holidays, because you don't want it hanging over you as you adapt to the increased pressure of year 13. Also make sure you do plenty of practice in timed conditions. It's the timing, not the actual questions, that makes the UCAT difficult 5. Apply to medical schools that suit your profile and that you actually stand a chance of getting an interview at. Don't apply to a medical school that's said they only invite the top UCAT scorers to interview if your UCAT score isn't great. Go for one that's more GCSE or personal statement focused :) If you do get a bad UCAT score, don't panic. There a good few medical schools that don't use it that much I hope this is helpful to someone out there :)

I actually thought that A levels were easier than GCSE's lol. I did Maths, Business and English language, it took me about 3 months to transition into them and then I hit the ground running and found the rest of As and A2 a piece of cake. Achieved AAA in the end. I feel like you scared some people a little, however it does depend on the subjects taken.
@hannahfox54227 жыл бұрын
Sackboy I would've agreed throughout my first year, I breezed through AS without batting an eye at the work, whereas GCSEs I struggled so much. A2 though, man that hit me like about 20 tons of bricks. I did English Lit, Classical Civilisation, Economics and Geography and this year I dropped Geography and picked up and EPQ, and I don't know if it's having a new fourth which is more independent learning or that the content is harder but it's tough, I'm only just starting to get a handle on it...

Watching this even though I've just finished A Levels but what you said about crying when you finish year 13... So true! Most stressful year of my life and I always used to consider myself as someone who 'doesn't get stressed'! When I started year 12, I actually found myself pleasantly surprised because everyone said it would be a massive jump from GCSE but I didn't find that at all. (All my subjects were old specification though so that may explain that). So I decided to carry on all 4 subjects into year 13, plus I did an EPQ, and that's when the big jump happened for me! A Level in comparison to AS Level was HARD. So just make sure you're prepared for that jump too! My favourite tip of yours is probably about the mini tests and staying on top of things. There is so much content in A Levels that if you don't make revision notes as you go along, you physically will not have time to do it all by the time the teacher finishes the content. Also, practice essays!! It took me ages to get used to the different writing style from AS Level to A Level so I had to study and study model answers until I wrote in the style of my teacher. Perhaps some people are more natural at doing that themselves but I really struggled and that was the only way I could manage it. Year 13 is exhausting. But look after yourself, and remember, it will not last forever. Plan some good stuff for your summer- it may be the only thing that gets you through that final stretch in exam season. You're doing amazing though so keep going!

thank you soo much for posting videos❣️💁🏻🎉 You are amazing and I'm starting my 12th year (in Germany). I am in school for so long in the evening and I struggle because I am one year younger then everyone and happen to work more then most of my classmates which doesn't make it easier for me😕 Because of that they expect me to do great which isn't always the case😕 I am so happy that I found your channel 🤗 Love you Jade❣️

You are more than welcome!! Wow, thank you so so much! Ah, that must be difficult for you - I can only imagine. At the end of the day, you must do only your best and accept whatever your best results in. You are so worthy of success, and I wish you luck in future tests! Lots of love x x

@ValerieBuecherwuermchen7 жыл бұрын
I am in the G8 school system so I will do my Abitur (A-level equivalent) in 2018 when I'm 16 😅 . Also I don't have the easiest subjects (Biology, Geography, Maths and Englisch) but I can only do my best. So good luck to you too in 10th grade Chalkbird
@jill94507 жыл бұрын
G8 is really hard I'm also in grade 12 now (G8) in which state do you live ? because where I live we have to select 5 subjects in which we are tested (2 of them are our main subjects, for me they are Art and Biology) and have 8 in total which go in to our Abitur. I choose Art, Biology, German, Religion and Mathematics for the subjects I'm getting tested in. Good look in grade 12 🙏🏼

Hello! I'm Jane, I'm doing maths, bio and chemistry. Please could you make a video about your experience with maths - what modules you found particularly hard to grasp, how much time and effort you put on them and what learning techniques you used, how much help you received from your teachers, the exams, what you're expecting from Year 13 I found maths in year 12 tricky and I'm now terrified of moving yet further. Your videos are very clear, informative and well-structured, and you're cool, too, so I guess it would be quite amazing to listen to you talk about it Thank you and have a wonderful day, you're awesome
@UnJadedJade7 жыл бұрын
Jane I love you!! Thank you so much haha 💗 the other day I filmed a general video of my experience of maths a level so far as well as some tips and things like getting help from teachers - I'll probably do a more in depth one in future! It's really useful to know you'd like to see one though, so thank you! Lots of love my friend x
@janezhuk16627 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your reply, honestly didn't expect you'd actually notice it! Which one is it exactly? I've never done GCSE in the UK and so I've only watched vids that looked relevant to me. Should probably watch what you've filmed on GCSE exams and revision - although there is a huge gap between them and A Levels it'll be interesting to find out more about your learning methods :) Cheers x

nina lethbridge hi! It depends I highly recommend having a coursework based subject but I do wish I'd taken a different one to health and social - I wasn't interested enough in the content although I still put in the effort and got an A☺️ I would say go for it as long as you like the idea of the content - especially if you want a career in the care sector xx

@@cynthiaadam7558 You know, although my original comment was sarcastic, I am really enjoying my subjects, having just done my end of years I'm sitting on results I am very happy with because I am so interested in learning about these subjects. With maths I think you can deffo go off hard work, most of the questions are repetitive and if you learn the rules you can do decently well :-)
@navparadise7 жыл бұрын
Town Called Alice i tried maths a level but i dropped it after 4 months. i got an A in my gcse which i had to work for (maths didn't come naturally to me). but a levels are much harder and you start to hate the subjects you loved at gcse. definitely helps to enjoy the subject because that'll get you through it. if it doesn't come at ease to you at gcse, it will be much much harder at a level.

@herooftime47817 жыл бұрын
I'm doing: Software Systems Development (Computer Science stuff, though more programming than hardware theory), Psychology, Maths, and English Lit., which I plan to drop after AS. I like the subject combination since apart from Psychology (and quotations for English Lit.), I don't think there'll be an absolute ton of sitting down and learning content to the extent there was for History GCSE, for example. Though of course the workload will still be much larger than I'm used to. Also, I really like all of them, excepting Psychology which is a new subject in Year 12, but should be interesting regardless of the supposedly huge work load for it in particular. I'm actually super excited for A-levels, though I'm sure that it's probably just the back-to-school-rush rather than A-levels themselves :) I'm finally prepared to become more organised and surpass my shyness to be more independent too. Also, I love your videos so much, and find you to be one the nicest, down-to-earth, and inspirational people I've watched on KZbin, so thank you so much for making these!
@Isabella-pp7pw7 жыл бұрын
HeroofTime47 I'm also taking psychology along with sociology and fine art!! Really excited about psychology it looks really interesting!! Also I too miss the rush of being of being at work, I was lost for the first 3 weeks trying to find things to do! ☺️
@herooftime47817 жыл бұрын
Haha yeah I always get so bored over summer; I miss the schedule and I guess the regular satisfaction I get during the school year in having actually been productive; even with all the stress, it's just nice to be doing something! Fine art sounds like a really good subject, even though I hear it's a lot of work. Good luck!

Dark pro Mo it is difficult, you will find some days worse than others, but as long as you're organised and do your home work when you get it, you'll be absolutely fine

Dark pro Mo If you take subjects you genuinely enjoy and are good at ,and put a lot of effort in them then there's no problem
@TallestBlueCrazyDiva7 жыл бұрын
Dark pro Mo I think it totally depends on the person and the subjects you're taking, I came out of my GCSEs with pretty much all Bs because I wasn't focusing on just one subject but kind of stretching myself to do good in everything and I really struggled. But seen as A levels are a lot more focused on specifics I'm doing a lot better because I'm only doing subjects that I enjoy or am good at. If you enjoy what you are doing and work hard you should be proud of your results no matter what. xx
