I have a sketchbook from India with the same paper. It buckles like crazy when it's wet. But I find that overnight it will flatten out on its own-no need to put anything heavy on it. You can even go back and paint on the other side when it's in a sketchbook.

I had never heard of Khadi paper before this video, but back in university I did some studies of Mahatma Gandhi and was contemplating going to India for a semester abroad. I learned that Gandhi was promoting self-sufficiency in India, and one of the methods of doing so was to spin and weave your own cloth, which he did, and the white fabric he used to wear as a sort of a wrap was made from this Khadi cloth, which was cotton, but I just looked it up and Khadi cloth can be made from silk as well. Interesting reconnection to my past!

I’m always amazed at these both because the beginning color palette is kind of wishy-washy for me, but it turned out so beautiful. I make these little mini watercolor pallets out of old mint candy tins… So I have a little predetermined, watercolor pallets, and I randomly grab them when doing a painting. I’ve got about eight of them, and it definitely makes that part of the process super easy and I don’t have to think about anything. I thought of making my own color cube cards after seeing your videos though :-) especially for larger projects. These were pretty good when I’m just at my desk because the little pallets are small and I don’t have to bust out different paints from different places. I’ve been binge watching your videos! Lol.
@2lilowlsstudio4 ай бұрын
I did make my own color palette cards - had them printed… it was 25 cards for $40! The color cubes are 500 cards for $67 - so it is wayyyyyy cheaper to do those! I show mine in a couple videos. Putting a few of your favorite palettes together in tins is a fun idea! ☺️
@creativesolutionstoart4 ай бұрын
Oh dear, I would probably just swatch my own Four by six watercolor paper with the color groups and put them in a recipe box/card file holder! I learned while watching your videos that it seems to be a combination of complementary colors with one analogous and a couple of neutrals… With the freedom to incorporate black white and metallics :-) at least that’s the little formula I came up with… I could also take notes while watching you pull pallet cards and copy some of those😉🎨

You are correct about Khadi stubborn behavior with water. I recently eco dyed some sheets on Khadi just for fun. I had to keep using a bamboo stick to push the sheets into the dye bath because it would float to the top & the fluid would just run off. My Khadi is from Italy. It finally took the dye bath & the finished pieces are beautiful. I purchased Khadi because I like to stitch on paper & it is a robust paper with some flexibility.
@2lilowlsstudio Жыл бұрын

Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm
@2lilowlsstudio Жыл бұрын
Thank you! 🥰🥰🥰 So I actually keep what I make since I make videos and classes. I might need pieces to photograph again. My goal isn’t to sell art my goal is to make the videos. You could sell your art online, at art fairs, and local galleries. Make cards, frame some to hang in your house which I do, give as gifts for birthdays and holidays, cut up pieces you don’t love to make other pieces. Make artist trading cards. Share your art online with others. I just want to make stuff and making videos and classes gives me a purpose for that creating 😊

Hi Denise, do you by any chance have any videos where you show these methods on a canvas? I'm interested in doing a larger one, many thanks ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻❤✌🏻

I don't work on Canvas hardly ever anymore - so I don't have any videos on Canvas currently. I like to cut stuff up - so if I want to have a piece mounted to hang like a canvas - I do it on paper and cut out the part I love and mount it to cradled board and paint the sides in a solid color. My goal isn't to sell art, it is to make art classes and videos - so storing paper is much easier than storing canvas in my condo.

Hi Denise! You are awesome!! Love watching your videos! I think that I want to buy the color cube but I have a question or two! 1. Do you have/use the online part? 2. Is there an ability to print an entire page of a single color? Thank you in advance for helping me figure this out!! Look forward to seeing what else you do!!💕

So glad you are enjoying the videos! I don't have the online part - so I don't know how that works. I do know the online and the printed cubes are the same palettes. You'd have to ask them about print ability. 😊

I love your work, just saying ❤ I would love to buy this color palette boxes you got, but can’t find them anywhere. Where did you get them?

Those are so cool! I love using them. You have to get those from the lady that makes them. I post all the supplies in the description below the video for you! That is: The Color Cube - sarahrenaeclark.com/colorcube/?ref=123

Hey Denise - well I marched my happy butt into my art studio and said OK!! You are gonna do a cool pic just like this one you watched Denise do. Yeah. No. That didn't happen. The more I layered the worse it got. I'm writing this as an encouragement to someone reading this! If I didn't have art that I've done that I Love I would probably have had a big fat breakdown!! So in the end I took my Brayer with gold acrylic on it and went over the whole pic. Gold is my FAVE!! So I ended up with a big stack of bookmarks after I cut it all up. They are shiny and I don't hate them. So when your painting just is crap - make bookmarks and collage fodder. I'm so happy that I'm not all depressed over this whole thing! Thanks for reading all this! Hugs Susan in AZ❤️🏜️

You are so amusing! It's bad enough the mailman and Amazon know your address. I believe the art store is at a good distance for a reason. You would be a broke moehammie! Lol

Did you know you can sometimes turn the painting to the backside, than use printer paper or paper from packaging, or parchment paper, paper towels, on both sides then with anIron on medium NO STEAM.!! Iron out the buckles or wrinkles slowly and carfefully, checking to make sure you don't scorch or melt any thing like pastels or crayon markings. Just a suggestion.

Could you create a spreadsheet with 1-500 and put a ‘yes’ next to the cards you’ve used so you don’t have to punch out of them?
