Unlikely Savior of Quick? - Summer Skadi Analysis

I didn't want to rush this one out since her banner had already ended, but I did want to talk about the overall perception of Summer Skadi. In this analysis I talk about something big people aren't really considering, whether or not she's the savior of quick, and if she's worthy of your attention.

As someone who has never been able to get OG Skadi, but got lucky with an NP2 Charlemagne, I went for Summer Skadi simply to pair with a friend of Skadi for Charlemagne farming. I couldn’t just let Charlie sit and collect dust after getting lucky with him, but there was no way I could use him if I didn’t have proper supports (if I went double Castoria, I might as well run any of my arts loopers). Charlie is also my best option for a saber looper. Summer Skadi was a must for me because of that. I also love that she does so much buster crit support, I’d love to mess around with teams using her and double Koyan for hilarious crit shenanigans.

Summer Skadi is a great offensive support for quick servants. One of the bigger problems of quick was having duplicate servant restriction during content like Exhibition Quests or super collection series JP is getting lately now. Now you can bring both Skadi and Summer Skadi as support for these kinds of content. Other than that quick servants with 2 or more buster cards really love having summer skadi around because they can now do big np damage as well as buster crit damage. Xiang Yu's np isn't a meme anymore. If you have both skadi and summer skadi you can also borrow your dps and do things you could do with double skadi. She's great for people like me who enjoy challenge quest content. Edit: In farming content however there's very little to save quick. Castoria left such a big powercreep that quick can never be as good for standard 3/3/x nodes. However for lv90+ nodes you can crit your way to the top and make creative comps just like how buster does.

S.Skadi is not bad but, I honesty just want them to rework Quick and Crit Stars as a whole. Also, wtf is wrong with them and the HP bloat nodes in the first place? If it's just for flexing and speed, sure, go ahead, but when they are also the best nodes to farm, I am not okay with it. It's like they don't want to make farming any easier, not to mention that with the recent 3 week events on JP they take forever to finish, with no extra content to make them worth it.

I'd say her being a replacement/other option to OG skadi for quick farming is only a side thing. I dont think their focus was about it being another way to get yourself a quick looper or quick looping support. Her being probably the best crit support right now and following the anniversary card change and addition of 90++ is too coincidental to not be the Goal they had in mind I think. We're already seeing crit meta resurgence. Quite frankly I'm all for it. Of course If some people still want to force quick looping usage they have the option to do so, not much has changed in that department. To me she's a Must, her potential is just too big and She's definitly bringing more than the 2 other SSR did this summer.

FGO time and again keeps releasing a servant that isn't all that appreciated immediately but then releases nodes that makes that servant really, really good. So I agree with you. Summer Skadi and the new Faker are both going to end up being really important units over the next year.

I think ruler skadi is a lot like a quick version of queen himiko, since both of them facilitate a secondary answer for 90+ nodes than the usual Tri NP setup. Will look forward to more variety supports in the quick camp cuz there's a lot of potential left to be explored in here.

I'm more excited about her cq potential. OG Skadi's cooldowns meant as soon as she used her skills, she had contributed everything she really had, but Summer Skadi's second skill encourages you to keep her on the field. She also has better synergy with quick servants who have two or three buster cards and supports like Osakabehime. There's a lot of quick teams who fizzle out after turn 3/4, and while she doesn't seem to be an exception to this, having her own aoe quick np gives her a chance to maintain the team without buffs. Plus, as a ruler, you can bring her to most any fight without worrying about class advantage. She's a much more damage oriented Skadi, and while that's really handy for farming, I think it'll be more interesting to see how well she can perform in challenging content (I say as if I'm not dreading the idea of 1mil hp enemies in 90++ nodes)

Quick units need star bombs the same way Arts units still needs NP batteries. To think otherwise is pretty shortsighted. In general it's just nice to have that option turn 1, or really at any moment you need.

I mean part of the reason Kriemhild and Summer Ibuki is so busted is because of their 50% charge..... 30% charge combined with append would also solve most of Summer Musashi's issues..... And being able to crit on demand first turn with Summer Skadi comps is a good thing, can't generate stars from the np chain if you need to buster crit wave 1....

@@ryanwest6035 While I think a charge skill on S.Musashi would help her a lot, i don't think having maxed append really does anything for her other than make you *feel* like you're wasting some charge. 30% + Magus or any 10% charge if she's hitting 90-98% refund is honestly more than enough, the append skill doesn't really do anything since you're using all of Castoria's skills on her turn 1 anyways and you really want the np gain skill, so you're just overcharging with append maxed. Really all she needs is the battery to guarantee loop 1 turn, her best MCs all give her some kind of charge anyways (Fragments, Trop Summer, Magus) to guarantee the other turn.

I suppose the only case where this isn't the case would be if you're using a 50% starting charge CE for event farming or something, but I can never imagine using anything other than BG in general farming/content.

Summer Skadi is great!✨ Love her design and all, but i think that she's like a better version of og Skadi, like Lasengle saying "we won't buff og Skadi in a while" or something like that. Still, this Skadi is obviously superior, just her class makes her top servant when it comes to class advantage. Overall, she's amazing and i love her✨

This may just be QoL for general farming, but I like how she has a split between buster and quick support skills for BBBQ, BBQQ, and even BQQQ quick units. The hyper quick focus from OG double Skadi is great, but you hyper relied on having dps quick cards or you bricked sometimes. With double SSkadi 40% atk, 130% quick, 30% buster, and 200% B.Crit makes both your quick and buster cards still crit decently hard for more consistent carding potential and can make Summer BB/hand lock strats less rng reliant. While the star gen + bomb means even when carding with your busters you'll still have crit potential for the following turn. Her longer CDs and zero defensive options outside her charge reduction NP does still make her more of a 3/4 turn support in my eyes as a casual player, but the crit potential is still there. Guess quick needs their Merlins and Xu Fus now lmao. Hoping mighty chain update makes a very early appearance to NA like appends + 120 did.

What I really dislike about her is that she isn't even "Skadi 2.0," as in "Skadi, but better." No, no- she's just "Skadi 1.1," maybe "Skadi 1.2." She does much of the same things, with some slight differences, a bit more on top, and has much of the same issues. Before the reveal of her kit, I felt that a new high-end Quick support needed to be either of two things: 1) An e-sports version that addressed OG's glaring defensive flaws, who can hold up better in longer fights. Like what Merlin/LA is to DCS/DKS. 2) A version that doubled-down on OG's farming focus, completely outclassing OG's kit and made Quick farming comically easy. She is neither of these things. Instead, she's a bad combination of them that only combines the worst parts of either route; she retains the farming applicability -- and *only* retains it, as she contributes no major change -- with slightly more e-sports viability, but it's all offense-oriented. Checks out with how Quick farming is just the worst parts of Arts and Buster farming(dependent on wave numbers AND CE). She greatly improves the performance of a select few units-- but that's it. She does nothing for Quick-heavy decks, and Quick as a whole by extension. Even for those select few units, all she does is make their face cards hit harder. Just like before, they still have to kill everything in three turns or die-- if they don't just get randomly critted to death, because a lot of them are Zerks. If their goals moving forwards include fixing Quick, then they are not off to a good start-- even the direct "buff" they did to the card type served more for Arts and Buster, rather than Quick itself. Summer Skadi just continued the theme of "let's fix Quick... by improving the other two."

@@ACertainMan slightly different attack buff and party invul don't really make two units different lol. Even yourself said it's only nuance differences. Now, it's okay to make similar support but for different card types (in proto's case). If it ain't broke, don't fix it. But releasing two ssr that are extremely similar to previous ones in the same event? It's them being lazy or trying too hard to push 3 ssr for 1 event and didn't have enough design time lol

@@rayzhang7591 your view of creative design is lazy, what you basically propose is have same supports but for different card types. S.Skadi enables quick teams to make comps and capatilize on strength they couldn't before. Proto merlin is very much different than OG merlin and to see that you need not look further than there NPs and how they compare the main difference is the fact that their NP gen effect is 3T Vs 5T. OG merlin you can keep his NP up for the entirety of the fight with no real investment just use Prisma and between his passive and that you can keep perfect uptime for the entirely of the fight uncontested. This small tiny difference makes the way you play both and take advantage of their strengths all the more different cuz now you have to pay attention to how charge flows in your team which makes the extra charge in her kit be it the passive and S3 all the more nessecery to keep up this philosophy extends to their healing as well merlin playing into snowballing while proto plays into getting the max value you can from the NP cuz you don't know if it will be your last.

From what i have calced , Bradamente and Taikoubou can now farm in a standard uick setup (100% charge + 2k4) with doublet summer Skadi , which is cool . Really love the quick for star gen into fat crit design she has , add option to quick that was basically limited to OG Skadi before

Yeah, honestly this was my takeaway from her. She's a great support, not arguing that, but I just don't think she's 900 SQ worthy--not when we've been told they want to fix Quick. If they are genuine about that, that means the next ACTUAL Quick savior could be upcoming. For people who don't spend on the game, especially if you're an overseas player playing on JP, the lack of foresight and the usual rate of SQ gain means that spending up to pity is imo, reckless.

Not really my place to comment on other creator's content, but the comp is largely what I'm talking about with her. You just play the cards, due to RNG it could mean critting one to two different waves, flip flopping which turns you np.

@@Khadroth What I am seeing is this comp seems safe to use with any quick dps servant with a 30% NP charge skill + 20% mana loading or a servant with a 50% NP charge skill, both cases requiring a 50% starting charge CE. Without that there will be a little bit of RNG I think. You would only need this if you had to NP the first two waves if card rng wasn't on your side and all your dps servant's cards land on turn 3. In those worst case scenarios you could also throw in a cheap servant like Bart for extra crit/quick/atk and stars if you need more damage to crit down turn 3, since you not using Summer BB.
