Proven Winners couldn't have picked a better channel to sponsor than Garden Answer. I had never seen PW plants at my Lowes or or other big box stores until I and many other customers started to ask fir them. Even tho the price is typically a dollar more, people are grabbing them as soon as they arrive. Even Walmarts got several different plants. The first were small containers tho,and tho they were a bit expensive I purchased a few for fillers in my container pots. Then to my joy and heart I check their nursery every trip I make which is at least twice a week some bubble gum pink petunias were on a table. Large pots and healthy. I purchased six. Which was half on the table. They were the talk of all my container pots. I used two in one container that sat upon a pedestal. That sat on a raised concrete form surrounded by landscape stone. It stayed mounded not flat in the center ,and grew all the way down the pedestal.I hsd to cut it back twice this it hurt my heart to do so. But you really needed to see the pedestal to make it look nice. Proven winners are my favorite plants especially when you can find the larger containers. Hopefully I can find the hybicuss. They are just gorgeous. I have two planted and they come back every late spring but not as vigorous as Laura's. Plus the sedum to add as a border plant. All these plants delivered made me happy. They came to a good home,and the placements in mind is going to be gorgeous.

(IF only) we didn't have SO many deer feasting on our plantings. This morning I woke up to SIX deer in our front Island. The ONLY thing they will not eat are the lantana and a planter of cactus. They even come on my front porch and deck to have their breakfast & dinner. And yes....we spray the smelly deer repellant every other evening and have even placed the deer repellant pods. Please consider filming a video EXCLUSIVELY with deer repellant plants. LOVE...LOVE...LOVE your gardens and your channel! 🦌🍁🌾🌵Only wish the deer would stay away long enough for my plants to GROW!

I have the same problem - I’ve found that lavender, catmint, peonies and some grasses will be left alone but that’s about it.
@beckysnead8914Ай бұрын
Same here on the east coast. I HATE the deer, who think my back yard is a smorgasbord. If I catch them outside, I chase them away. I have to buy netting to put over the shrubs that they feast on in winter. I also did that for two years on the new trees until they got tall enough that the deer can't reach the leaves. Deer are just forest roaches to me. Last winter the deer left me an antler just to make sure I knew who had a fight with the xmas lights covering the hedges. They make me want a BB gun.

How fun to watch you “unbox” and plant! Question: When watching you dig holes for the hibiscus, do you ever stop and think what a difference you have made in the soil on your property? Laura, I’m glad you like the PW hibiscus. They were a game changer for me. They ate my favorite flower but mine died until you introduced me to the PW brand. I love they can take my Houston heat and cold and the hurricanes. We never know what weather we will have. This summer after the hurricane my fence fell on my hibiscus and laid on it for a week. After removing the fence panel I cut the hibiscus back and low n behold it’s growing back. It’s about 3 ft and growing. Now I have 8 in my garden.

Hello Garden Answer team! So a few videos ago Laura asked for plants that can help stabilize the hillside behind the barn/storage. Maybe some of these can also be used for other areas of your garden. I chose plants (trees and shrubs included) that had fibrous roots. Just fyi: if your slope is 10% or greater consider terracing 1st and as you know avoid any plants with tap roots in the hillside. 1-Golden Hinoki False Cypress, zones 4-8 10’H x 4’W 2- Golden Charm Thread-Branch Cypress, zone 4-8, slow growth and has a weeping habit, 6’H x 8’ W 3- Bar Harbor Juniper, horizontal growth, zone 4-8, 1’H x 4’W 4- Blue Star Juniper 5-Double Play Doozie (spirea- blooms non-stop and no seeds) 6- Sherwood Abelia Cotton Lavendar, Ice plants African Daisy Floribunda Roses (have fibrous roots) Rose “Drift” variety is spreading Comfrey Pampas grass Maiden Grass (dwarf) Fountain grass Plumbago Deutzia “Yuki Cherry Blossom” Variegated sedge: Liriope or lilyturk Blue Chip Juniper Honeysuckle ‘Scentsation’ (ground cover) Forsythia Show-off Sugar Baby (dwarf) Siberian Cypress- Celtic Pride Best of Luck with all of your ongoing projects. 🫶🏼

Food for thought with the heuchera. I live in New England and actually plant all heuchera in full sun because they tend to thrive best. I’ve had them Peter out and it only happens in shadier spots. I usually follow the rule of heuchera = sun, heucherella = part shade, tiarella = shade. I know conditions are much hotter in the summer there, but maybe it could help to put the heuchera in a little more sun!

hi! I am a new gardener and was wondering if you had a book or will write a book that has plants names of the plants you use in your garden, with pictures, bloom times of year, if it’s an annual or perennial, dry or moist soil, colors of leaves or flowers in fall/spring/summer/winter, height and width, deer resistant, when to fertilize, how and when to prune. It would be so helpful. Like a quick reference book. The tags at the nursery don’t have all the information. Just a thought. Love your show I am learning so much!
