You are truly a master at this!! Thank you! Quick questions: you mentioned using a template - but then you showed how you need to make each page truly relevant to that location (YES!). Is there a guideline on how much to change from the template? i.e. I heard Google doesn't rank programmatic SEO pages (I'm guessing because it's multiple pages templated- looking the exact same with minor tweaks) but your strategy seems to blend the ease of having a template + what should be done by way of customization for each page. So i.e. if I was working with an electrician, could I show the exact same services for each page, but just add information specific to the location in order to rank for that area? How much extra information will be needed in order for the page to rank (and not show up as a duplicate page for Google)? Also, how would you suggest showing Google reviews with the customer location (my understanding is Google doesn't allow reviews copied from Google maps, but one can use the API - but then how do you abide by Google terms and manually add the location the person commented from?). Sorry for all the questions. I just love local SEO and want to understand how to better serve customers and help my local SEO students. Thank you!!😀👊💓

There aren’t strict guidelines on how much content needs to change for each page. When I mention a "template," I’m referring to components like the hero image, header, intro, USPs, case studies, reviews, and the overall layout of the page. I aim to customize these elements as much as possible for the specific location I’m targeting. Some elements, like a list of services, may remain consistent across pages. There’s no set "amount" of unique information that guarantees better rankings; the key is to make the page as useful and relevant as possible for the user and optimise it for SEO which I'm sure you know how to do. For customer reviews, I often select relevant ones from my client’s GBP profile and incorporate them into the page (I know that’s a bit cheeky, but it works). Alternatively, you can ask clients from the target location to provide testimonials specifically for the page-bonus points if they mention the location by name! A video testimonial with a transcript is even better, and that’s something I actively encourage my clients to do as well.

@@rankingacademy Thank you so much for your detailed reply! Your breakdown of how to approach customization for location pages is helpful. Your suggestion to encourage clients to provide location-specific testimonials (or even video testimonials!) is gold-I can see how that would really boost both user engagement and local SEO value. Thank you again for sharing these actionable insights. I’m so grateful for your generosity in sharing your expertise. It’s truly motivating to learn from a master in this field!

How interesting the cities you listed in Florida are the areas I go into on a weekly basics for work. I have a freelance web design agency in GA and these are areas I wanted to target to expand my reach. My GBP has been suspended and requires a video verification. This just might be the solution I'm looking for. Thank you!

Very nice explained! 🎉 My only guest is if after all this work on the business website the GBP snippet will show up more in the map for those locations or just the website snippet on the SERP? Will this strategy boost the business profile for those areas? Would be Nice to know it from you, but anyhow is a very Good strategy for any local business ❤
@rankingacademy15 күн бұрын
Thanks a lot! In many cases, location pages can help trigger your Google Business Profile to appear in the map pack for that area, as long as the location isn’t too far from the business’s registered address. If it’s too far, it’s unlikely to show up in the map pack, but the location pages can still rank in traditional search results, which can drive significant traffic.

Great video as usual! I've been wanting to ask the following question, and I think it is time. You responded below to someone that "...to appear in the map pack for that area, as long as the location isn’t too far from the business’s registered address". My client is a solo-owner plumber, who does not want to publicly show his home address as he doesn't have a store, and we have set his GBP to show working cities he covered. My question is, even that he is not showing his registered home address, is Google be basing his cover proximity radius to it?
@rankingacademy14 күн бұрын
Yes, it works the same way. Google will rank your listing based on the address you provide. The only difference is that in one case, you display the address (brick-and-mortar), while in the other, you don’t (service area business). However, the underlying principles remain the same.
@AlfredodelArenal13 күн бұрын
@@rankingacademy Thank you very much for clarifying this to me.
@ktoday321912 күн бұрын
@@AlfredodelArenal BTW, it's not that your customer does not 'want' to show his address, it's simply againts the guidelines. He can only show his address when he receives his customers at that place because he performs his services for them at that place.

Regarding additional locations, is it necessary to have a separate phone number for each one? Also, considering my city radius is approximately 7 km, what is the recommended distance or limitation for creating another profile?
@rankingacademy11 күн бұрын
I recommend using a unique phone number whenever possible. This not only reinforces to Google and potential customers that you have a genuine presence in each location but also helps avoid issues where Google might automatically merge your listings if the same number is used for multiple locations. Regarding the radius, your overall service area should generally remain within about a two-hour driving distance from your business location.

Great video and tips for us! I do wonder if this could be a disservice to the gentleman since you explicitly mention who it is - some of his competitors might not have been aware of his ranking before this video and after watching (or being made aware by others), could make extra effort to take him down (either by following your tips or by dirty tactics).
@rankingacademy14 күн бұрын
Absolutely! You don’t need to be a genius to figure this out with a few Google searches. However, most business owners aren’t willing to put in the effort required to achieve those results.

No. Just add your location to your home page and build location pages for all the others

It works the same way, but since customers come to you, it’s unlikely you’ll be able to target locations that are too far away- as I'm not sure people will be willing to travel unless you’re exceptionally skilled and in high demand.

I have always had a giant doubt, first of all I love your content, you are simply the best. Here's the question, what works best on location pages and within service listings? and that lead to other service pages...or service pages and listings within the locations and that lead to other location pages/each service , thanks a lot in advance.
@rankingacademy14 күн бұрын
I find what work best is this: Location pages should show what services are available there, with links to detailed service pages and unique local info like the address and hours. Service pages should explain the service in detail and link to the locations where it’s offered. This way, people (and google) can find what they need whether they’re searching by location or service, making it easier for them and boosting your SEO. They can be different scenarios depending on your vertical but this is the most common one i use
