This is the lesson I've been searching for! I'm 73 and have picked up piano from where I left off over 60 years ago. I can read music and know the keyboard but I've never understood how music works. I'm eager to learn that. I've picked up some pieces here and there. Some from the very channels you highlighted. Your thorough but easy instructions have taken me a great leap foward. I've downloaded your chart and will check out your Chord Playlist as well. A million thanks for your help!

I LOVE this professor. No one understands the adult student as well as she does. Her intuition is tremendous.

Susan, this is an exceptional video. So many videos tell you "what" you're supposed to do, but seldom explain "why" you're supposed to do it. The applied music theory you've explained in this video enables viewers to create their own chord progressions, and know why they're doing it, rather than just copy the ones demonstrated by others. Very nicely done!

are chord progressions just something you must memorize or is there a rule or pattern like the one for making major or minor chords. For example, If I am playing in the key of G major how do I determine what the chord progression must be if I don't have a chart?

Many thanks, this is is something to experiment and have fun with, excellent idea! Just small feedback, the quality of your videos is so distant from the ones you added thumbnails to, with shouting people, that is pretty much jarring (unpleasant) comparison now. In other words, better not include visual reference to such obnoxious channels, keep your content pure, higher. Just feedback 🙂
