You should simultaneously remove your affected hand with the reflection of the unaffected hand..even with small movements only

@@senensoberano847yes correct. The guy in the video didn’t explain that or he didn’t do it when he was demonstrating the mirror therapy.

Questions.. 1- should I remove my rings? 2- does tattoos affect the teraphy? Thank you so much for your videos and positive energy and encouragement. 😉
@SKILLSANDWELLNESS
@SKILLSANDWELLNESS 2 жыл бұрын
Yes it might be best to remove your rings so that the brain cannot distinguish which side is moving. Weqr sleeves to cover tattoos if you have any on your arm or leg.

What happens when you have both arms in the same conditions? Can I use someone else's arm to play the moving reflection? What I mean is, is it important that the movement reflected comes from yourself? also Does the person have to imagine the movement or try to really move the hand that need to be reeducated ? I mean, does the patient need to just observe the movement, or does he have to try to do it as if he were trying to replicate it? Please let me know :)"
@SKILLSANDWELLNESS
@SKILLSANDWELLNESS 9 ай бұрын
If both arms are afftected, this is not the best managemebt. It might be better is somebody moved your arm and you visualize and tell where your arm is positioned.

Ok so no substitution is possible i mean for example if i use my proper arm (let's say the right one) as a reflection for the patient so that he can be tricked into seing his left arm in the mirror, mirror therapy won't work ? thank yoiu very much for your answers and work i just discovered your channel it's the best one so far i found on the subject (on the practical side i mean ) :)@@SKILLSANDWELLNESS

Is mirror teraphy better than exercises?
@SKILLSANDWELLNESS
@SKILLSANDWELLNESS 2 жыл бұрын
It is effective but better when combined with exercises. Because the stroke arm is still weak and tight, exercises and stretches are still needed. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

i've always wondered how effective mirror therapy is in stroke rehabilitation. i use it for patients with unilateral pain problems like CPRS. the title says, "proven effective". would you care to show me some papers to prove its effectiveness? not challenging you but really curious. i have focused my study and practice in sports and musculoskeletal physiotherapy but now seeing more neuro cases too. thanks.

I have no research but in myself. I tried it, and it really did tricked my brain thatbit was my otherside moving.

@@SKILLSANDWELLNESS fair enough. But I don't know how that translate to a stroke patient that had insult to his motor cortex. Sure, there's no harm in trying, but if it's just a waste of time, might as well focus on something more effective. And fortunately, not much. Yeah, neuro rehab is frustrating because the nervous system is king. Lol!

I'm a Stroke Survivor and still on recovery period (3rd month). Anyone here who can tell me how effective this mirror technique is?
@dionideguzman.physio
@dionideguzman.physio Жыл бұрын
@@allanmoral3867 there's moderate evidence of its effectiveness. No consensus on dosing but I'd recommend at least thirty minutes twice a day. Try also using your involved arm and hand even if you don't see any movements yet. This will help create new networks in your affected brain. Just remember that for many it's a very very slow and long process so be very patient.
